Will I like it even if I am completely uninterested in football? Though, when I was in high school, we were in the top 10 in the country. So I do kind of have an interest in high school football, I guess.

I love pumpkin picking. The hayrides are so fun......the kids have a blast.

My kid keeps on eyeing the pumpkin we're very lax and have not yet carved it out, and he keeps on saying "that is a pumpkin. we will make yummy pie. mmm yummy pie there are SEEDS in there"

it's really quite cute.

I agree. Before Game 4 of the previous series would been much more sensible.

IIRC, Byrd said they asked him for comment days earlier, but not that much earlier.

Apropos of aV's point about Mitchell, the Chronicle story strongly suggests a source connected to the investigation that's been run out of US Attorney's Office for the Northern District of California, presumably either a prosecutor or a defense lawyer:
  • Paul Byrd, the veteran pitcher who has helped the Cleveland Indians reach the brink of the World Series, bought nearly $25,000 worth of human growth hormone and syringes from a Florida anti-aging clinic that was targeted by law enforcement for illegally distributing performance-enhancing drugs, business records show.

Byrd made 13 purchases from the Palm Beach Rejuvenation Center between August 2002 and January 2005, according to the records. During those years, he pitched for the Kansas City Royals, the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Angels.

Paying with a credit card, Byrd spent $24,850 to buy more than 1,000 vials of growth hormone, an injectable prescription drug with muscle-building properties, and hundreds of syringes.

The records reviewed by The Chronicle included Byrd's purchase and shipping orders, payment data and other information, including his birth date and Social Security number. The records were provided by a confidential news source, who said the orders were consistent with an athlete's personal use of growth hormone.

Based on what they wrote, I can imagine that Mitchell didn't know anything about it. Also, Byrd's last purchase of HGH was, apparently, before MLB banned it.

Comfy Shoes

As the mother of a second-grader, a two-year-old and a newborn, I am the queen of comfy slip-on shoes.

I have had several pairs of Danskos. For cooler weather I rely on a pair of black nubuck clogs with a cute perf pattern on the vamp. In summer I have black fisherman sandals and pink strappy-ish sandals. Danskos are really great if you're going to be spending a lot of time on your feet.

I also have two pair of Keens and love them: green nubuck clogs (less embellished than the ones you linked to) and red flip-floppy sandals. They are awesome and wear like iron (I've had great luck buying the Newport sandal for Magnus on eBay, since a season's worth of wear doesn't really show on them at all). Keen also has the distinction of being headquartered in Portland. Note--they do tend to run small, so take that into account when ordering online.

I recently bought (but have not yet worn) a pair of Merrell clogs. I can't find anything comparably un-clunky on the Merrell website, and Zappos doesn't seem to carry them. They are sleek and minimalist, and subtly (if that's possible) metallic gold.

I have very nearly bought Tsubos on a couple of occasions, but they tend to come a bit too high on the ankle for me to be truly comfortable (I broke my ankle in college and have a scar from surgery). They also run on the small side.

I have lots and lots of other, less comfy shoes (I have a particular weakness for mid-heel sandals in fun colors), but these are the ones I'm most likely to wear while running around town in jeans, with kids in tow.

The one thing I will caution you is the LL Bean suede slip on shoes that everyone wears? I HATE THEM they make the wearer look like an old lady.

http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/sto...p&feat=3644-tn

A woman on my train wears them and she's fat and it makes her look dumpy. That is up there with jersey stretch pants at work. Why would you wear work out clothes to work and think that looks great? or white shoes after labor day? saw that this morning. Both, actually.

Why can't Cameron come to my firm? The pimp I can do without as well as the bedbugs can stay away also.

According to the caption, it pulled the label off the kabocha squash and is holding it.
I have been doing a lot of business in Grand Rapids, MI for the last couple of weeks. Last week, the American Rabbit Breeders Association held its annual convention in Grand Rapids. (I know, Thurgreed, try and hold your envy of my swinging international jet-setting lifestyle in check.)

This week, the rabbit people are gone. I don't know if it's a coincidence or not, but all the fancy restaurants in Grand Rapids are offering rabbit as a special.

That's not a bunny, it's a chinchilla.

there is a chincilla slaughter house about a mile from me. the smell is horrible. last week, I saw farm transport truck from one of the local chincilla mills in the parking lot of the burger King a few blocks from the slaughter house. i don't know if the trucker stopped on his way to the slaughter house before offloading or whether he had dropped his load of chincilla first.

Clearly, they were waiting for the World Series, but had to jump the gun when the Red Sox tied the ALCS.

If you're looking for something outdoorsy, try Timberland -- my wife has a pair that look similar to these: http://www.timberland.com/product/in...entPage=family
Just plain boots with low heels?

I am, I think, pretty boring in the footwear area.

Sometimes I think big pumpkins are good, and other times I would prefer to have a few small ones. I guess it depends on how I am feeling that year. I like pies, but not pumpkin pies so much. Sometimes I toast the seeds, but they need a lot of salt. I like salt, but not too much salt. Pepper is good. The spice, not the former poster, although she is nice too.
