The Case Against Rock and Roll Church

Okay, okay. This "black Catholic church" thing irritated me the first time I read it.

There is no such thing as a black Catholic church. There may be parishes which are predominantly black, but it is not a separate church administration as some other faiths have had, and as at least the Seventh Day Adventists still have.

The Catholic churches were the only churches in the South during slave days that forced slaves and masters to worship together, which may explain a small part of why there were so few Catholic churches in the rural South.

Way to prohibit a silly harmless tradition, LA.

Policing morality always renders comical results.
You really want lapdancing to be legal? You want everyone to be doing it? Then the cool cats would have to find something else illegal to be doing to get that extra frisson. Policing morality is the mainstream's little gift to the cutting edge, a way of saying, no, keep doing that, we're not going to co-opt it yet. Their loss, right?

Munsters news

My main question is why wasn't spookyfish staying current on these developments? Well that and how can this guy still be alive?

NEW YORK (AP) -- After the summer he's had, Al Lewis, who played Grandpa Munster in the '60s sitcom "The Munsters," figures the odds were against him that he'd survive.

"The odds in Vegas were against me. I think, 1,000 to 1," Lewis, 93, was quoted in Tuesday's editions of Newsday.

Lewis checked into Manhattan's Mount Sinai Hospital on June 30 for an angioplasty, his third, Newsday reported. During the heart procedure, an artery ruptured. To stop the blood flow, doctors performed an emergency bypass. That produced serious clotting in his extremities and the threat of gangrene, the newspaper said. His right leg was amputated just below the knee. The five toes on his left foot also were amputated.

It was several days after he came out of a monthlong coma that he first learned about his leg, Newsday said. Only later, did he begin asking the usual questions: "Why me? Who chose me for this role? I don't remember auditioning for this?"

He's now recovering at Coler-Goldwater Specialty Hospital on Roosevelt Island, building his strength and learning to get around again. "I'm glad I didn't have a vote on the amputation," he joked.

"The Munsters" ran from 1964-66.

I dunno, maybe it's just me, but if I were 93 and woke up from a monthlong coma after heart surgery to find that my leg and toes had been amputated so that I had to relearn how to walk, I'd be a little peeved. Damned doctors.

Yup, it's downright iatrogenic.

My bad, but I can't keep track of everything. You confuse me with Shape Shifter, who is the omniscient one. As to your second question, I'm convinced it's a case of life imitating art. Al Lewis really is one of the undead.

Yes. but my avatar was Herman, and he's dead already, thus no news on him.

Like Coach and Phil Hartman, Herman made his series. Grampa couldn't hold his proverbial jock. Some TV authority --sheesh.

A great many things are illegal for no good reason. Things that should be legal everywhere include:

Female toplessness (Its legal everywhere else, including our own South Beach, and the world hasn't fallen into moral decay)

Pot (Everyone get get prozac, paxil, viagra, etc... but not pot? Whaaaaa?)

Gambling (Regulate it everywhere and watch the tax coffers explode)

Mushrooms (See Pot above)

Sex in public (Because its a fantasy of mine... of course, there would have to be rules to keep the aestethetically unpleasant from ruining everyone's lunch, but society can enforce those regulations discreetly)

Nudity on broadcast television (We'd all be a lot better off in this country if we stopped memorizing bibles, running from our sexuality and playing with guns and instead started fucking a whole lot more)

Profanity on radio/television (Why pretend these words don't exists... they're just syllables strung together - how dangerous can they possibly be to societal health?)

You're missing the point. If female toplessness were legalized and common, even Sidd would become desensitized. We'd all have fetishize something we don't get to see, like armpit hair or molars. If radio and tv shows were profane all the time, we'd have to invent a whole new lingo that the hoi polloi don't understand. As I understand it, urban black youths spend considerable time doing this now, and as a result they are stuck in an endless cycle of poverty and violence.

Things I would not like to read today

I assume he had been smoking in bed, no?

Some folks are very wierd in their recollections. I was at a wedding a few weeks ago where some guy told my wife's friend that he had sex with her during high school within earshot of a group of us. The friend politely said "No, we had a 69, but never intercourse", which of course made the group of us standing nearby listen more intently. The guy (who was a total tool) insisted they had had sex and the friend got pissed. Eventually, the two started arguing. The friend is not liar, not did she drink a lot in high school, so here recollection of who she fucked was crystalline, yet this cat would not relent, and in fact rambled on about details of thier alleged sex. I believe some people have amazing abilities in regard to altering their past in their own heads, and I'll bet the guy who burned your bed did exactly that. Its a really scary power of the mind, but it sounds like in your situation, it worked to your advantage, since the sex wasn't memorable anyway...
Since we're getting all personal and stuff. There was a guy in college who insisted that he and I had sex on the pool table in his frat house. Of course we didn't. Some friends and I showed up for a party and were playing pool that night. 4 of us ended up going out for some late night food. When in the hell did we have sex? While people were playing?

Anyway. He told all my buddies in another frat house this story. Story got around (behind my back). Finally one of my friends said "hey you know what's-his-name says you guys had sex on the pool table." What? how long has he been saying that? I asked around - he'd been telling that story for over a year. And the guy was a troll. Truly a troll. No way I would have even done it with that guy and I would have remembered doing it on a pool table.
So I run into him and a friend at a bar a few years ago. He asked what sorority I was in, I told him. He said, you know it's funny, I had sex on the pool table with a girl from your house. I said, that's me you've been telling that story about and you've got to get over it. It didn't happen, you troll so stop telling that damn story like it's true.

Anyway - the memory is a funny thing. Except when it comes to faces. So GWINKY, maybe he just didn't remember your face because he wasn't really looking at it.
