Apropos of that, what is the difference between salve and balm?

Just remember: Superfluity does not vitiate.

least favorite word/CLARIFICATION

The phrase "butt skunk" troubles me, but to a much lesser extent than any of the rest.

To be clear, nothing in my previous post was intentionally meant as a slight, perceived or otherwise, against the poster known as "Pretty Little Flower". I assume that the fact that those three words, individually and not necessarily in any combined order, tied for first place in my least favourite word poll is at best an ironic coincidence and at worst randomly ironic. To. be. clear.
Also, nothing in any of the above should be inferred to mean that PLF is a "butt skunk" or that I am a flyfisherman.

And for every wrong there is a remedy. However, no one can take advantage of his own wrong. Which could, I suppose mean if one wrongs one self, one has no remedy.

That which does not appear to exist is to be regarded as if it did not exist.

The law disregards trifles. Which again proves there is not a remedy for every wrong.

But the law helps the vigilant before those who sleep on their rights.
Now you two sillys need to stop it - esp. since Ty nearly scared the pants off me a few posts back. . .

Salve is for nasty skin conditions that do not otherwise respond to ointments.
Balm can be as benign as Chapstick (lip balm).

Cat in the Hat
Does anyone else find everything even slightly connected to this movie (with the possible exception of the actual book) incredibly irritating? Actually I found the cat annoying even in the book. Bad cat.
I looked it up -- the annoying cat is Mike Myers, not Jim Carey. Shocking. Bad Mike Myers.

If your question is whether anyone else thinks it's a bad idea to make an entire 82 minute movie out of this character, the answer is "yes."
"It's been said you should never marry anyone you wouldn't want to take a three-day bus trip with. I have another insight: Never make a movie about a character you can't stand." --- Roger Ebert. Of course, he goes on to give it two stars, because it's "a triumph above all of production design."

I think there is a direct correlation between "they have been great" and "they were hundreds of dollars." Nothing wrong with going for 600 count sheets -- I just thought the price of the ones BRC found was suspiciously low to be good quality.
Lands End doesn't make my favorite sheets anymore and they are worn to shreds. They made them out of the same fabric as their pinpoint cotton shirts and the more I washed them, the softer they got.
