when my kids were like 7 or 8, we bought into the "family friendly" Vegas thing. It was sort of a lie, although the flyers that litter the streets did give us an organic educational opportunity to explain prostitution. I remember walking down a hallway with the kids and finally seeing another family with kids walking in the opposite direction. the dad looked me in the eye, and we exchanged a look that said "sucker."
OTOH- my hotel had perhaps the best child care I ever saw. No surprise if you consider the prime directive.

I agree.
Mandalay Bay has an awesome aquarium that the Brazenette just loved. And the pool (with a lazy river thing) was a great way to spend the day. And there was no problem at all arranging for a babysitter at night so that the grownups could go eat and gamble.

I'm going to have to go with Britney on this one. Crunchy Cheetos.
Or cool ranch Doritos.
Britney may be pregnant again

Good choice. Which flavor? Because I think the pretzel/cheddar are perhaps slightly more trashy than the others (e.g., cheddar/cracker; pizza).
What about corn nuts? Original. Or ranch, for extra trashiness and flavor.
|
Yes. YES!!! YES!
Those are my favorite (cheddar/pretzel). They are surprisingly difficult to find. Or perhaps I've just bought out the city's supply.

Aw, man!! I've been eating pretty healthy -- cooked all this vegetarian food over the weekend. Last night, as I was going home, I started thinking "Mmm, potato chips!!" but I resisted stopping and buying any. I'm supposed to go grocery shopping today, and now I'm wondering how I will resist buying Bugles.

My older boy is still talking about Mandalay Bay 6 months later. He keeps asking when we can go back. At the place where we go for Xmas and Spring break, they were going to put in a Mandalay Bay, but apparently, that plan is now off. This Xmas break, I couldn't get my son to stop lamenting that the MB plans were scrapped. The aquarium thing was a huge, huge hit with everybody.
However, I have to say LV did not seem all that kid friendly. There are slot machines everywhere (impossible to avoid passing them), and then the guards (or whatever - some dudes in uniforms) get all pissy if a kid gets within 10 feet of one (not to play - even if the kid is just standing in the vicinity). I mean, they're at the airport, in hotel lobbies (I don't mean the casino), restaurants, etc. The locals did not seem particularly friendly.

You need to find the truck stops in TCOTU. Abundant supplies there. Next to the bugles.
(you can also pick up a Von Dutch hat while you're at it.)

There were locals?
I must not have been paying attention, seeing that I was winning so much.

Bugles are perfect in every way.
(And if I have to pick a second choice, there used to be a truckstop on the Quickway in upstate New York that had the best fried cheese -- it may not be traditional packaged junk food, but getting a greasy bag of those to travel was heaven. My own fried cheese is a but a pale reflection of theirs).

No. The perfect second choice would be Devil Dogs, frozen.

Me too. Almost all of my exes have very dark curly hair and very dark eyes like that.

Funny bones should be in the running, too. But have you had the friend cheese? I think the place was in Hillsborough or Amenia.
