I'm going to grow a beard and start to wear flannel. Maybe buy a log cabin, chop some wood and plan to overthrow the middle class.

What alternatives do you propose? Hank? Pony? Spooky? Or perhaps just "d"?
Once upon a time, Edna and Myrtle complained about the odd things our parents named us, and we returned the favor by ridiculing their names as we grew. The ultimate revenge will be when little Kayla names her kid Myrtle. Everyone here should accept the fact that we will have grandkids whose names are in bold, who put our own names in italics or bold.
(OK, one of my brood has an italicized middle name, but the rest avoided the lists altogether).

I don't know, Cap'n. Some names don't ever sound strange, and some always will.
Edna and Myrtle don't sound hooker-ish, just old-fashioned. But Brianna and Savannah -- come ON!! (Please, please, don't let the italicized name in your brood be one of those...)

It's hard to avoid the boy's names list without going completely off the reservation (unless you're going "ethnic").

My actual name is very traditional and no one my age has it except for the seemingly preteen wife of an actor (no, I am not preteen - I was making a point). However, my porn star name is Fluffy Colfax and I am thinking of officially changing my name to this. Probably Fluffy Colfaxxx though.

3) 1 team wouldn't trade today. (and I don't mean Dumars is smarter, it's a question of where the Pistons are at right now)

I think you're romanticizing your team. I do it all the time with the Yankees (most recently with fucking Damon who I thought we would never want sullying the pinstripes with his caveman stench).
Do you think if Detroit had a solid point guard and McGrady that they wouldn't have gone as far last year or wouldn't have had a better shot against the Spurs? It might be true that they probably wouldn't have been as good a team, but in a playoff series, if they had a McGrady, they could beat anybody.

I was going to throw Mandarich and Bosworth into my post, but wasn't Mandarich a bust because he got off the juice? And Bosworth at least had a movie career. Leaf was a horrible pick based solely on his talent. And his attitude, as you said, would have gotten him kicked off my flag football team.

BTW, there are probably more busts in baseball, but there's no expectation that drafted players will make an impact right away. Shawn Abner or Brien Taylor, anyone?

Didn't Taylor hurt himself in a bar room brawl? What a fucking jackass.

I don't know. A lot of the boys names are too "soap opera-ish," I think.
I have a name that is A) not on the list B) fairly uncommon, and C) actually still used -- so not really "old fashioned." I was in the grocery store not too long ago when I heard a woman talking to her young son, who was apparently involved in some minor mischief at the time. When I heard say his name, I reflexively turned around. I actually felt compelled to explain myself to the mother, which was just kind of odd.

Mandarich--that's the speculation, but why would he get off the juice? They tested as much in teh NFL as in college then, no? I assumed it was like several prominent linemen--the blocking schemes in college are easier because the linebackers aren't nearly as quick. As soon as you need lateral mobility, not sheer pushing strength, you may have a tough time.
Bosworth -- yeah, a "movie career" of bit parts in second-rate movies (Three Kings excepted, but that's a really bit part). I'm sure NFH will tell you that the Seahawks are quite pleased with his performance in cinema.

To be sure, the Taylors and Brandons are way too soap-opera-y, but it's hard to avoid David, John, James, Michael (none of which are soap-opera-y).

I too have such a name (as you know...). On vacation, someone with a similar name was in the swimming pool, as I knew because some guy kept yelling for her. My son (the one with middle-name-only on the list) kept saying, "Do you know that guy?"

Last year would pull in Larry Brown- lord only knows how he might have messed with McGrady- so I'll answer it for this year.
A wing rotation of McGrady/Rip with Prince off the bench would be scary. No one gives McGrady credit for his defense, which is real strong. No question the Pistons become unstopable- except for the "if" on solid point guard, and one other thing.
Billups is right now playing the best ball on a team that is the best. Does the amount T-Mac improves them equal the step down to whoever they get? Chauncey is one of the best points, and I can't think of one the Pistons would trade for him. It would be a big step down. I just don't think Dumars pulls the trigger at 25-4.
And there is also the possible chemistry fucking that could come up. He took the Rasheed gamble because he had to to get there. The Pistons are there, so Joe might not want to roll the dice- even if there is no apparent possible baggage with Tracy.
But it doesn't warrent further thought because I said the other 29 teams (which would include Houston) would not make the trade.

Born with glitter. GO. I tend to associate Jasmine more with Disney princesses than with sluts, but that's a result of having daughters (both on the list, but neither bold nor italics).
Now that I think about it, Disney could have a pretty good stable of strippers with Jasmine, Belle, Aurora (or Briar Rose, for that matter)...

I heard somewhere that Mandarich's feet where the big issue. Tiny and slow. In college, he could just move people around with his strength. In the pros, you gotta move those feet.
Bosworth existed solely to serve as a welcome mat for Bo on MNF.
