I totally understand why Nicole has an eating disorder. Remember when The Simple Life started and she was trying to kick heroin and everyone was saying to themselves "Really? Heroin? She seems a bit heavy to have much of a heroin habit." She must have heard that. Maybe she read it here even. My God - I think I might have caused Nicole Ritchie's anorexia! From now on, only sunshine and smiley emoticons from me. NotBob will love me! (but he won't mention it to me for fear his wife reads lawtalkers on the sly).

Hmmmm. This kind of temporal slip could lead a cynic to contemplate the possibility we're dealing with a sock. Could it be?

And then some leave for years and return to laugh at you from the safety of their exit, hovering rightly above the dregs, and reaching down and re-stirring the shit. You were better than your fate Chevy. Even Pl8d got out before he sunk that low.

Of the current posters, I guess Hank qualifies as new post-infirmation blood. Not many others, though.

Ahem.

By the way, I note that there is no wikipedia entry for lawtalkers. What are we gonna do about that?

You mistake me. I count myself as part of the bitter dregs. And I was never better than my fate, although the last chapter of that book hasn't been written.

Too bad I don't have any song parodies or literature socks left in me.

CDF

ETA that you're right. If I now have the time to hang around here occasionally but I'm not posting anything worthwhile--and even I realize I'm not--I could be doing something useful instead. Maybe work on that novel I never finished. Thanks for the reality check (in all seriousness).

Flirting with married men

I sometimes want the reckless crazy party girl I knew back. I used to think I'd go gently toward my 40s, but that's not in the cards. I like it. I mean, the kid's great, the house is nice, the money's fine... but there's something there driving my head in a very different direction at all times... a little self destructive bug I caught somewhere along the line. I think I need to do what Less is doing at some point. She'll let me, just so long as she has a palace and her friends around. maybe thats why I love her - we observe the 'personal space' thing. I couldn't take a needy person, and v/v.

And she is always photographed coming out of, or going into a restaurant.

I am going to try just once . . . why do you care? Moreover, why do you think we would care? Seriously, why? Because even the minimal effort it took for you to cut and paste the pic from wherever you got it is such a public admission (and indictment) of a vapid character that I find it hard to believe that someone with more than 16 years of school would commit it. Nevermind, I feel dirty and putrid for wasting my time even writing this.

My fave recent overheard quote:

"What's a mojito?"
"It's a cosmo with mint."

Too true. Too true.
Europe - where the mojito not only lives fully, but seems to be the only cocktail some bars make. I was in one place that had (I counted) 68 (17 stacks of 4 glasses) pre-made, pre-filled, and pre-pared glasses of mint and sugar. Just add liquid, but no ice, given that this is Europe. I almost pitied the bartenders who had to come in early to prep those, but then I remembered their important role in servicing the sheep (Hi NFH!).

When are you and barely going to realize that you were made for each other? (Sorry, Fugee.) (And, uh, sorry, barely.)
