Although a joke comparing a the stiffs at a Congressional hearing with a "Weekend at Bernie's" would have been even better.
I thought about it, but I couldn't choose between that and "467 Boss Hoggs."

Politico says he's putting his race on hold.
I thought that public opinion polls had effectively already done that.

Doesn't the Inspector General always have this problem in each agency?
That's why the IG's Office is always set up as a parallel but independent structure, with only a dotted line accountability to the Secretary.

There is a significant body of precedent holding that an attorney acting as a compliance officer is not engaged in the practice of law for conflicts purposes and has a quasi-fiduciary duty to the stakeholders protected by the compliance function.

This is the paradigm in the corporate/financial markets world, at least. I'm not as versed in the health care field.

Always nice to hear from the Man of the People. Who's feeding your hogs, Butch?
As nice as our apartment is, I don't have, say, a built-in basketball court*

Two Americas indeed - his and ours.

* or a squash court. or a pool. or a stage. or [sniff] a pub/lounge.

You poor, suffering prole. No wonder you are a Republican; it's nice to see you support your fellow poorfolk.

Slave didn't go to one of those law schools where, on graduation day, they hand you a contingency case with bid damages and settlement potential. He's a little annoyed that Edwards had everything given to him on a silver platter.

Unlike Bush, say, who had to struggle for his ranch.

All that money and Edwards builds a cheese palace like that? I'd expect Toby Keith to live in a spread like that, not Breck Boy.
Maybe he is real salt of the earth.

Yes, indeed, John Edwards is quite the Horatio Alger story. I could see our Founding Fathers shedding tears at his glorious work.

He built an indoor squash court. Not an outdoor NASCAR track.

Um, okay...

Quote:
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - John Edwards said Thursday his wife's cancer has returned, but said he will continue his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination.

"The campaign goes on. The campaign goes on strongly," Edwards told reporters, his wife by his side.
So, the big announcement was that nothing has changed.

Except for the fact that this prick is now trying to garnish the sympathy vote.

Loverly.

All rich people are supposed to be Rs. When some of them are Ds, it messes up the whole "All Ds are for government spending because they are welfare moms who live by sucking at the teat of gov't" thing. Plus, it's not right that Ds should get any money for campaigns, etc., other than from e.g. trial lawyers, who are bloodsuckers who are destroying capitalism and the free market.

It's against the natural order for someone who can afford that huge spread to be a D.

I almost wrote this. You can tell how few of this people have any experience in actual government service.

You mean "lawyerly."

This will backfire. People will feel bad for him, as they should, but they won't want a guy who's attentions will be diverted with such a serious crisis.
