a. Because of the liberal media bias
b. Because they don't want Kerry to look bad
c. Because they want Kerry to win
d. All of the above

I choose d. What do I win?
A link from Ty to Josh's page which will try to explain why you are incorrect?

The unemployment rate under Clinton was the lowest that has ever existed historically. I'm not sure how many of those jobs were in manufacturing, but I bet there were more than were created by the dividend tax cut.

As are all technically trained and skilled workers. The loss is to unskilled factory-type jobs, you know, the guys creating the toxic waste.

Okay, I guess I have to concede, and change my vote to Kerry.

Germany's and France's endorsement didn't do it.

Al Queda's didn't do it, either.

But, damn, Mumia's is the last straw. All of the moral weight has now come down on Kerry's side.

Ya gotta admit, this will cause half of Nader's constituency to have second thoughts. Or first thoughts, as the case may be.

But, thankfully, only two or three of his donors.

Wow!

George W. Bush will please have to forgive me, but I now need to change my vote.

For how in good conscious can I choose to ignore the endorsement of a convicted police murderer, Communist and friend of Rage Against the Machine?

Oh wait, now I see the Bush environmental plan. It's quite simple, really. Reduce the number of people working in factory-type jobs that create toxic waste, and we'll reduce toxic waste. Truly a market-based solution.

Well that, but there's also always the possibility of him echoing the Clinton environmental record. You know, enact some executive order on traces in water say a week before his term is over so the next guy has to repeal something that can't be met.

Ah, the Anybody But Clinton campaign hits its stride. Tell me again about selling the missile codes to the Red Chinese.

The better question is why is there such a need to create new manufacturing jobs? If the work can be done elsewhere better and cheaper, why shouldn't it be? How is "creating" new manufacturing jobs (which can only be achieved through protectionist incentives - a wonderful idea, since the world community is so in love with us already...) any different than the GOP's subsidizing farmers to buy their votes? The Dems scream about how Bush subsidizes farmers, yet they seem to want to do the same thing for manufacturing workers.

Manufacturing jobs will not come back until the cost of foreign labor makes domestic labor economically attractive. Kerry might try to speed up that reality via legislation, but I doubt he'll have much short term success (whatever protective legislation is passed will be swiss-cheesed with loopholes). That leaves a question that I can't answer... What happens to people who are solely skilled for manufacturing-level jobs during the years while all the labor is offshore? Do they get absorbed by the service industries?

Oh, yeah, like we're gonna fall for that one.

Vince talked about it, and, well . . .

"If that guy over there is hungrier than me, why shouldn't he get my soup?"

Answer: Self interest. Nothing more noble-sounding than that.

But there are few responses more valid.

Exactamundo! Kerry in Detroit says he's gonna add plenty new auto jobs. Kerry outside Detroit says he's gonna add plenty new regulations to make it impossible to sell cars.

One of the guys who actually pulled triggers at Srebenica was arrested in Peabody MA after living here for a few years (including numerous run-ins with the local police). Between him and 8 others, they executed 1200 men in something like 1 day.

I doubt there is any need for anyone to say how they feel about this arrest. Still, holy fuck. What an asshole.

Hello
