Another Cosby quote

Here is a more complete excerpt of one of the quotes.

http://www.nydailynews.com/front/sto...p-168538c.html
  • Cosby, who was honored for his massive donations to black colleges, had organizers gasping when he contrasted the '60s civil-rights pioneers with some of today's African-Americans.

"These people marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an education, and now we've got these knuckleheads walking around," he declared. "The lower economic people are not holding up their end in this deal. These people are not parenting. They are buying things for kids - $500 sneakers for what? And won't spend $200 for 'Hooked on Phonics.'

3) Even Kris Kringle was thin at the beginning of that other show. The Burgermeisterburger was starving everyone. Kind of like the "Oil for Food" programme*

No, Ty, no! Danger, Will Robinson!

Those with longer memories will recall that the Coz has a history of making weird statements, which trolls collect and save like Tootsie Rolls with which to attract and ensnare other posters.

We have 2 of the three elements here already. Let's not go down that path, else we'll be subjected to photos of NotMe posing and grinning over YOU.

Why is it weird for him to comment on the bad parenting that is rampant in the underclass or the fact that sports are valued over education and that as a result, these parents increase the chances their kids will be stuck in the underclass, too. Why is that weird to you?

Cosby on Letterman, talking on and on about a track tournament he'd be running in. Then he says, "but I couldn't run the next day because I pulled a groin muscle." Dave says, "your own, I hope."

Not directly relevant, but amusing.

The way you Rs turn on each other is just pathetic. All that in-fighting. Thank goodness there was never ever any thought that your tent was larger than a pup-tent from the Barbie Goes Camping set.

Skidded off of the Joke Highway again, on to yet another gravel-pocked sidestreet. Oh well.

"Weird" is the umbrella term. I forget the Coz's exact quote discussed on the Stalin Board, but I think it was weird in the "wacky" sense. Something about AIDS, I think.

This one is "weird" in the "controversial/scandalous given the context of the recipient audience" sense.

They are supposed to increase, because otherwise there is inflation and people are making too much more money. When people make too much more money too quickly, prices go up. When people don't make too much more money too too quickly, prices are stable.

Rarely have people made too much less money too quickly, but when they do, prices fall. As you and I both know, people only make too much less money too quickly when Democrats were in charge in the dark ages.

"Wedding Party"

Not that anyone in the media thought to question why there was a wedding going on at 2am on a tuesday evening - at a known safehouse - but hey, what the hell. Let's fan the flames of discontent.
Strike that. Someone is finally connecting the dots on this Al-Jazeera-ish propaganda go here

I'm still waiting for the punchline about fables from a writer named Scheherezade. But I'm not sure which is the fable. (I find it easy to believe that we mistakenly bombed a wedding party and that the army is slow to acknowledge this, and easy to believe that we attacked militants infiltrating in from Syria and that someone is trying to spin this into a PR defeat.)

Bad news, Slave. Your blogger seems to place great stock in the fact that Scheherezade's stories got more U.S.-friendly over time, but by that reasoning her most recent story is bad, bad news.
  • As survivors tell it, the wedding party was in full swing. The band was playing tribal music and the guests had just finished eating dinner when, at about 9 p.m., they heard the roar of U.S. warplanes. Fearing trouble, the revelers ended the festivities and went to bed.

About six hours later, the first bomb struck the tent.

"Mothers died with their children in their arms," said Madhi Nawaf, who survived the attack Wednesday in Mogr el-Deeb on the Syrian border. Up to 45 people died -- mostly women and children from the Bou Fahad tribe.

"One of them was my daughter," Nawaf told The Associated Press. "I found her a few steps from the house, her 2-year-old son Raad in her arms. Her 1-year-old son, Raed, was lying nearby, missing his head."

And so on. If true, it's really ugly.
