The whole damned cartooon was sick. I can't recall the comedian who said it, but some comedian wisely observed years back that Smurfette was basically the world's biggest slut, and that the whole culture was based based around incest, since Papa Smurf had to bang his daughter to create the rest of the Smurfs, who, in turn, must have all banged their sister (NTTAWWT... er, wait... Y,TISWWT, my bad...).
The only sicker culture was the Keebler Elves. Young strapping elves were constantly parading in front of aging queens who used the virile young elves like Caligula with teenaged greek boys.

Yeah, THAT'S working out well . . .

Well, it would work well, if Georgie Boy didn't decide to become an unholy right wing second coming of LBJ and FDR combined. Its really funny that people say W wants to undo the New Deal as if the comment is revelatory. No shit. Its true. W does want to rip down the ND... so he can replace it with his own, less effective bloated version.

So you think Dred Scott was correctly decided?

McCain's problem is he has taken some pretty hardline position on Guns and Abortion. So I don't think that makes it a walk. But he could definitely beat Hillary.

Doubt it. Strongly. Hilary does have a group of right-wingers who hate her with a passion. So does McCain. And they're the same people. So their impact in such a contest would be minimal.

Well, if its any consolation, Al Gore probably would've done something similar in response to 9/11. Its like Nader said - the difference between the leaders of the parties is the speed with which their knees hit the floor when special interests enter the room.
But don't wallow too much. We'll have Hillary and whatever Republican isn't indicted by January of 2007 to select between next time around. You can select between a 14 inch big govt entitlement project dildo in your ass and a 14 inch corporate giveaway dildo in your ass. They will be taking your money (which really isn't yours, but "society's"), its just a question of where you'd like it redistributed.

More proof soccer is a girly game.
- Women know more than men about soccer
- If you don't understand soccer's offside rule, don't ask a man -- find a woman.
Women are top of the table when it comes to knowledge about the beautiful game, relegating their menfolk to second spot, according to a survey released on Wednesday.
Research found that 59 percent of women could correctly identify the offside law -- one of the game's hardest to comprehend -- as opposed to just 55 percent of men.
Also 65 percent of women correctly used the title assistant referee, while 40 percent of men wrongly referred to the official as a "linesman".

When I was nine I had the credit take from one of my goals because of that stupid rule.

Well, Roe is poorly written, and could be overturned, but the Right has stupidly made Roe a referendum on whether there's a right to privacy in the Constitution. They should stress the States Rights side of the anti-Roe argument, and argue that there is a right to privacy, but that abortion is not a privacy issue - that it is a public policy issue which states should have the right to regulate. By arguing against a right to privacy, the Right has made overturning Roe harder. NOBODY wants to be seen as the judge or party which hastened a decision taking away our right to privacy.
BTW, I was at a dinner a few days back where a constitutional scholar stated matter-of-factly "There is a right to privacy in the Constitution." He said it as though it wasn't even up for debate.
|
I think there are a few justices who think Roe is a bad decision but here I think the practical consequnces outweigh constitutional law. This court would never have decided that way in the first place, but I don't think the current court or any future court is going to overturn it. I don't think the justices are going to overturn it because it would rip this country apart. There would be riots and abortion would become the number one issue in this country.
I think the decision is like Miranda (although I would still like to see Miranda overturned). No one is willing to plunge into that much of an unknown to overturn it.

How would overruling Miranda cause riots or anything close? It would be quite possible to overrule most of it, while keeping some test to ensure that confessions have not been coerced, and still retain all of its prophylactic goodness.

The immediate burning of Dragnet episodes that would be required by the overruling?

You and I could run on a platform of legalizing date rape, free guns and forced abortions for every second pregnancy and beat Hillary. The Rabid Right and moderates old enough to recall that crazy twist's attempt to whipsaw Bubba into pushing for nationalized healthcare will trample Hillary into beef jerky.
She will be the end of the Democratic Party. The Suicide Candidate... Queen Midas in Reverse (at 5000 rpm).

I couldn't agree more. The fools on the Right crying for Roe to be flipped just don't understand the assfucking that would give the GOP. It would destroy the party. Shit, flipping Roe would destroy the two party system...
.... hmmm.
