OK, the moment has finally arrived. I have to get up and actually fix dinner.

WTF?!? The entire staff is out this week, including the cook, whose brother died suddenly, and I have to make dinner myself! The leftovers ran out last night. Thankfully, this is a short week.

You know what else? When I leave the bathroom a mess, you know who has to clean it up?! ME!!! What the hell is up with that?

Off I go to (gasp) make dinner from scratch.
I made chicken soup last night. I could send you the recipe.

They don't even try to disguise it as anything other than crap Gap clothing. They don't even change the color of the label like "Gap Black label" or anything.
What a waste.
I have no beef with either Banana Republic or the Gap. Both are well represented in my wardrobe and both serve their function well. The curvy flare jeans at the Gap, for example, were seemingly designed with my particular ass in mind. I actually just bought two cashmere sweaters at Banana Republic on Monday, and I'm in cashmere love. Almost all of my shells and work tee shirts come from Banana Republic.

That said, I see no need for this third store that seemingly falls outside of the "basic essentials that don't offend anyone" niche that the company has managed to create for itself. The only thing that I can think of is that Anthropologie* started stealing Gap customers.

Plus, the name is more ridiculous than a comparison of the original pre-Gap Banana Republic (of which I was an ardent fan, didn't everyone else have those lion tee shirts back in jr. high?) to the post-Gap Banana Republic.

*I don't, as a rule, approve of either creative spelling or pseudo French, but I generally fall in passionate, wonderfully requited love with at least three to five items from the store per season, including the sweater I'm wearing right now, so I forgive the transgression.

(don't tell me it's Talbot and I've been adding an "s" or I'll plotz)
You're just old skool.

The is still in the company's name

4th store. Don't forget Old Navy.

I have some Banana Republic stuff that I love. My capri khakis and my linen pants get worn to death in the summer. But this Forth and Towne had a weird vibe to it. Almost like an H&M crowd looking for a bargain. And a lot of the fixtures had an obvious Ann Taylor look and feel. It had no individuality that I could see and so I can't see myself going back there.

Since we are talking clothes (shocking!) on the recommendations of RP, I think, I got a catalogue from Boden a while back. I ordered a wrap dress that caught my eye and then showed up in their sale section. It arrived yesterday and it looks great -- well-made and nice-looking too.

Boden link here

The idiots actually called it "Forth" because it is their fourth brand. Brilliant!!!

Then, I guess they flipped a coin, and "Shoppe" lost.

It's no wonder the stock price sucks.

Boden link here
I bought a few Boden things too. A bit of a mixed bag for me. I think that the clothes are well made, but some of them seem a bit more frumpy to me in person than in the catalogue or online. I am wearing a Boden sweater today however. I think that part of my problem with the clothes might be that the fall/winter collection is a bit too wintery for the way people dress in sunny southern California. Other than during the past week, because it has been really cold (for here).

Refreshingly, the bottoms that I have purchased from there have run a bit on the large side for me, so if you are ordering pants/skirts, no need to add a size (my default with companies I've never ordered from before).

Is that after doing the UK to US size conversion? I remember I saw a few things I liked when RP first posted the link there, and I was a little hesitant to order because I get confused with US vs. UK sizing.

I have a table in my basement. Maybe I should have an FB beer pong party?

Someone else in the family doesn't appreciate as much as I do.
