I have had her on ignore for months, but everyone else is STILL forcing me to read ALL of her posts. It's almost as annoying as she is.

No. Congratulations, Boston Red Sox players.

There is nothing more annoying than Masshole Boston fans. Ever since 2004 they have been unbearable. I actually prefer Yankees fans.*

*grandfather is spinning in his grave right now.
So don't I.

And so isn't my grandfather (a Mets fan).

Today will be my own personal MASSHOLE DAY!! I will endeavor to speak like them all day long.

Actual line overheard in college bar:

"Oh, you go ta Hahvahd? Ya must be wicked smahht."

It's okay. I really don't like my team's (White Sox) fans either.

Statistically, one of them has to be legit. I have a line of credit from Upstairs Internet Bank of Guernsey, Ltd. I use to fund responses to each of those overtures.

When it pays off and the Esteemed Estate of Dr. Vilnius de Haaviland Ophershmitz or Baron Janus von Hufnagel, Protectorate Governor of Tristan da Cunha kicks me over that $40 mil in Rhodesian treasury notes, you'll be the one feeling foolish.

Ya'll won four years ago. Your football team is unstoppable to the point that someone's going to take a hit out on Tom Brady sooner rather than later and the rest of us will be happy for it. Your basketball team dominated an entire decade in living memory to all of us. Your "oh woe is us for we know not how to celebrate" routine is absolutely rediculous, especially in light of the fact that you beat Cleveland, a city with no winning credentials whatsoever, to get there.

Different teams. With the Celtics in the 80s, you knew they were going to win because they had the mystique, or the Garden, or Red, or whatever. Not that they always won, but Hank can tell you they pulled some tricks out of their hat, so there was always hope.

The Sox have been completely different, especially given 1986, but also '78, '75, '67, '48, and '46. The team managed to lose in the clutch, it was expected, almost the opposite of the Celtics. So, when a 4-1 lead shrivels to 4-3, and there's a long drive to left . . . . well suffice to say we remember how you start when down 3-0.

Just because you are a fan of one Boston team, does not mean you are a fan of the others*. The "woe is us" routine, only applies to the Red Sox.

The obnoxious celebrations have a lot to do with obnoxious college students. A group of them showed up at the bar last night and tried to instigate some shit. It was fun to watch them get shut down. "Standing on furniture and yelling at the top of your lungs is no way to behave young man. Now, sit down and be quiet or we'll call you a cab."

*I've been a Sox fan for almost 30 years, hate the Patriots, could care less about the Bruins, and even less about the Celtics, although I did enjoy listening to Johnny Most call the games on the radio during the 80s.

Stop it. All of you.
Because BnB insists on asking open ended questions. Just look at this one over the weekend, which thankfully was deleted:

BnB: "Who thinks it's going to be a Red Sox sweep?"

Response:

(Poster name withheld): I think they will and I had chocolate this morning and I have PMS. My name is (withheld) and I live at 432 Nixon Street, in Melville, Massachusetts.

I am closeted lesbian and my boyfriend is embezzling from his employer, a Polynesian artifacts museum in town, the name of which I'll obviously keep close to the vest.

I pay no attention to football. If it's not baseball season, I'm watching hockey. I find it mildly amusing and incongruous that there apparently is real football (e.g., not Harvard-Yale or Amherst-Williams) played in N.E.

The Celtics were different - a team that played some damn good basketball, and usually had a strong challenger in the Lakers. There was a lot of focus on good basketball, the sheer art of it. The Fans were Connisseurs. No one has charged Red Sox fans with the same. I'm not a big basketball fan, but I loved watching the Celtics in those years.

During the season, the Sox did not always play inspired baseball - the persona of this team really gelled in the post-season. It will be a more interesting team to watch, during the season, next year.

And I will back up any claims you may decide to make on this board about qualifying for Boston.
