I had a friend who used to refer to me as his future ex-wife. No, we were not dating at the time. Weird guy.

Fashion question - what is up with all the Uggs and Ugg clones on the streets of midtown NYC? All I see when I step out of the firm's NYC office building are women wearing Uggs. Why? It's not cold, it's 50 degrees out. If I had known it was the hip thing to wear I would have brought mine down from Beantown.

Anne
FWIW - ponchos seem to be more popular in Boston than NYC.

*and most of these people aren't lawyers. Which is why I only hang out with us on the internet.

Yeah, both of these guys are extremely funny.* I'm good friends with both wives and they're very laid back. I don't think they care if someone doesn't understand that it's a joke.

*one is so ridiculously tactless it's beyond comprehension. But most people apparently find him charming. And not b/c he's a good-looking guy, b/c he's not.

There are two kinds of people who tell these kind of jokes -- the ones who say it in a clearly self-deprecating way, and those who think that they are kidding, but come across as condescending pricks. You know the type -- like the partner receiving an award at a firm fuction who makes comments about how he wouldn't have been able to bill 3500 hours to close the Acme-Amalgamated merger if he didn't have "the boss" running the show at the house in Scarsdale.

If the remark bothered the wife, type number one would never say it again.

By the way, I went back and purchased the cashmere poncho. And on further inspection, it is not a capelet. Definitely a poncho. I haven't worn it yet, but I did ask Mr Man while we were in the store if he would be willing to be seen in public with me if I wear it, and he said yes.

The CNN Meteorologist is TOTALLY FREAKING OUT:

"This is going to be like the movie 'Planes, Trains and Automobiles.' There's going to be no way to get from here to there," Myers said.

Almost. You've got the lecherous comment part down, but not the timing. A wonk response usually shows up 5 to 7 hours after the original post.

Mmmmm, cashmere. I just bought alpaca yarn to make my sister one for the December gwfgwf. She's a fashionista so they must be in style.

Anne
(Note to self - before next visit to TCOTU, knit a poncho to wear with Uggs.)

$28,000. WTF is wrong with people.

Hopefully she'll use some of that for a makeover. [shudder]

Possible answers:

"I don't know ask your dad's work wife"
"I don't know and I don't wanna know"
"I don't know but I can tell you about a 4 second erection"
