I am betting that even the little teeny intro to anal vibrator a, uh, friend got me will dwarf his sword.
Can someone run and get me one of those stubby pencils from the library?

Oh, but it does!
For example, a complementary angle is one that, when added to another angle, equals 180 degrees (e.g., a 60 degree angle is the complementary angle to a 120 degree angle); the complement "completes" (get it?) the straight line. (OK, so I'm not a geometry teacher -- would some math nerd please use the fancy math terms if our beloved paigow still doesn't believe me?)
Math Nerd is my second-favorite "dream career" (after copyeditor of the Great American Novel, of course).

adj.
Forming or serving as a complement; completing.
Supplying mutual needs or offsetting mutual lacks.
Genetics. Of or relating to a group of genes that act in concert to produce a specific phenotype.
Biochemistry. Of or relating to the specific pairing of the purines and pyrimidines between strands of a DNA or an RNA molecule.
Lets go with the second definition bc I dont think complementary really means completing and I dont feel like lookig up complement. So you though the line was serving a mutual need? As in providing some levity to an otherwise teedious post?
OK, lets look at schtick:
shtick also schtick or shtik ( P ) Pronunciation Key (shtk)
n. Slang
A characteristic attribute, talent, or trait that is helpful in securing recognition or attention: waiters in tropical attire are part of the restaurant's shtick.
An entertainment routine or gimmick.
Ok, so the Yale thing was to lighten up the droll post and it was part of LFM's regular shtick of lightening up droll posts with one-liners? Or the Yale thing was used as a funny to gain recognintion?? Or the Yale thing is so associated with you itsl ike a tropical outfit at a restaurant? But thats your schtick and not LFM's so it doesnt work.
Is it like if I post like this and then say skoething like, "OK I wanta burrito for dinner?"
I would like to use this term correclty in the future but I am not Yale caliber intelligent so please help
|
Would you have been happier with "supplementary shtick?" I would have gone with that, but I was hoping to bait someone into saying that LFM's reference to Yale wasn't meant to be a compliment.

I usually take them out for drinks when they quit.

Well I'm going to do that TOO.
Alternate answer -- she's Mormon, so I'm taking her to the special herbal tea place, but it's just not the same.

OK, maybe in the math sense. But arent dictionariy definitons listed in the order of commonality of use? I would think that themath definiton would be down there with the bio-science definiton or wahtever it was.
Could you say that I am completmentary to TM bc without me he is nothing? Bc I see that more of me fulfiling his mutual lacks or whatever the hell the second defnition was.

I'm kind of upset that you didn't explain the difference between complementary and supplementary angles. I loved trig. Loved it.

Excuse me, but just bc we didnt all go to Yale doesnt mean we are stupid enough to confuse complementary with complimenatry. Well, one of us is but he isnt here.
I think you just did a group insult. If we are so stupid and you are so smart, why do you chat with us? We aren't even in the INdustry.

I'm learning something surprising about myself today; apparently I'm more sensitive about being accused of not having a working knowledge of micro-economics than I would be about just about anything else. That's really fucked up.

Speaking of economics, did anyone catch Project Runway last night for the postal uniform design competition? Wendy manages to keep going just by not being the absolute worst each time. I foresee her demise soon. I would bet she was the one who drew the moustache on the picture of her daughter. While the other contestants appear to try to advance based on their work, Wendy sees it all as competition against others. I could see Austin or Jay (or maybe both) drawing the moustache in a moment of late night bitchiness.
I was glad to see Robert go. I thought his "solar panels for energy" on the 2055 outfit was completely stupid. And the pants-into-shorts ideas was tried in the 80s and failed for a reason -- they're stupid.
I enjoy watching Jay and Austin. Austin was such a good sport to be Jay's model. If I were gay, I'd fuck him. I thought it was funny that they thought the outfit was "too butch."
Kara S. always seems to find a way to quietly win. I'd like to see Austin and Jay go to the finals just for entertainment value, but Kara's consistency seems to make that prospect seem unlikely.
I'm looking forward to the Red Carpet show next week. I'd like to see what these people can do without the stupid themes. And I'd like another swimsuit competition.

Send Champagne.
I hate getting flowers. If I get them at home, the cat will knock the vase over. If I get them at the office it always seems to be on a Friday and then I have to haul them home so they don't go unappreciated, and it's hard to keep those vases upright in the car. If the arrangement includes certain flowers, including lilies, my sinuses attack me. Plus, I usually don't like the flowers in arrangements. I'm not alone in this, am I? I just think delivered flowers are a waste of money. I'd rather get a Hallmark card.
It's of course very hard to communicate this to people who send me flowers. It seems ungrateful. Oh, life is hard.
