I totally see where you are coming from, but to clarify:

Rehab Boy is a different guy from the current BF, who has been sober more than 3 years. That said, current BF was a CRACK addict. Super classy.

No one forced me to go to rehab. I said "no, no, no." I started going to AA because I was becoming a total drunk and cokehead and did not want to die like my little sister. But I had been getting wasted after my AA meetings for about four months before current BF called me on it and I have been sober ever since. It was our first date. We have been dating, and I have been sober, four months and five days. We have been living together since May 31.

It doesn't bother me that he talks to his exes. Hell, I talk to mine all the time. What bothers me is his random and inappropriate mentions of them. And though I did act out the scenario above I made it clear I was kidding but wanted to get my point accross, and I did.

Re my mind? I have no idea. I was better off when I was a drunk!
You left out the part where he tells you they "cancelled" his new lease just after you started up the engine on the moving van.

Random other places I've lived, such as Dallas. Or, more like I think I can go places that are in those other places -- like stores and restaurants. It's very disconcerting.

But if I were working on him I would say: I'm not an alcoholic, so I don't know, but I would imagine for alcoholics it's not "about the buzz." Your body becomes dependent on alcohol independent of the buzz. And an alcoholic's body needs what an alcoholic's body needs.

I might also say that there are levels of alcoholism. There is lying in the street, thrown my life away and there is need a drink in the morning to get through the day and there is really love alcohol and the buzz and drink way too often. I'm sure there are others, but just because you don't need a drink in the morning doesn't mean you are not an alcoholic.

Next time powerball runs around, I need to have you pick 50 numbers out of 1 through 55; and I will keep the rest -- 5 guaranteed winners.

In Canada, and in some other fine nations, "pissed" means drunk. So your post translates well! Good show.

I would go insane if I felt out of shape or unattractive. Everyone has a different comfort level. I would be a horrible mother and wife* if I felt out of shape or unattractive so I would prioritize my own fitness. But not everyone does or would.

*I am neither a mother nor a wife, but I know plenty of mothers and wives who hold down stressful jobs and are in fantastic shape. They somehow make it work. They have prioritized their own fitness.
'Nuf said. They make hubby hire nannies 1, 2 and 3.

I think it is typically the woman that does the hiring (and paying, since she contributes to the family income by having the stressful job in the first place).

Were I married and with kids (god forbid), I doubt very much I would leave the nanny-hiring decisions in the hands of my husband. I have watched The Hand that Rocks the Cradle so I am well-informed on this subject.

I'm trying to look at your post with an open mind. My commute is 2 hours one way, and I often work weekends of late. Time I "prioritize" for fitness potentially could be time I could be spending with my children. That is not to say I may be using the commute, or long hours as an excuse. I'm just saying it is hard. And being compared to others "who have made it their priority" will not help me, I assure you.

I've tried to come up with creative solutions. Running in the am was one, running on the weekends on the track was another and I'm thinking about an elliptical. financially we have a lot going on so a gym membership might not be so prudent right at this moment.

You're right. You should just stay a fat cow.

What the fuck do you expect people to tell you?

I was going to respond to her to consider the source, but hey, skinny is more important than spending time with family or choosing not to be suckered into "temporarily" taking in recovering crack addicts while in recovery.

ppnyc, you have to decide what works for you. it will probably annoy people if you whine about being fat when you could be working out in lieu of other activities, but as long as you don't freak out about them being annoyed, who cares? You have to recognize and acknowledge that you have made a choice not to work out if you aren't going to work out, though. It may be the best choice for you right now, but it is still a choice.

Clearly, if the world was fair, there would be a taxpayer-funded gym car so that she could run for the 4 hours of her commute. It's your fault that there is no such gym car.
