So...

If the reports are accurate, Kerry's presumptive candidate for Sec'y of State nixed an attack on Osama bin Laden prior to 9/11.

OK, no PR disaster there.

I'm not sure what you're talking about, but recall that when Clinton tried to take out Osama with cruise missiles, conservatives attacked him for it. Damned if you, damned if you don't . . . .

Damned him for doing it in an inadequate manner and questionable timing. He's still damned.

Next?

An allegedly similar war against a "potential threat" to the United States, which 54 percent of Americans now think was a mistake while we still have troops on the ground, would certainly have been more successful if it had been waged during the Clinton era, which I note was before 09/11/2001.

On the timing, read Ghost Wars. The CIA spent years trying to get good enough intel on bin Laden to try to take him out. We didn't have many shots at him -- like, almost none. That was one of them. Criticisms of Clinton on that score were partisan and, as it turns out, dead wrong.

Inadequate manner? I've had this argument with club before. How exactly was Clinton supposed to get other forces into Afghanistan? The problem was that Al Qaeda had allies in Pakistan who could warn Afghanistan about an attack. And we had no bases anywhere nearby.

eta: Oh, and the "Wag The Dog" criticism about Clinton was that he was using too much force, not that he should have been sending Americans to Afghanistan. Conservatives would have blown a gasket if he'd tried to do that. And the military stood in the way, too. Why blame Clinton, and not the military?

With Hank on a three-day weekend and Not Me threatening to turn Dem, I'm afraid we're not going to get enough push-back on the board today. Maybe we should go mix shit up on LWK by saying men who work outside the home don't love their kids as much as those who don't.

Foul truths, ho!

Yes, for which I allegedly and similarly have criticized the president for inadequately addressing the task.

That 54% number is pretty much meaningless too, as the polls always phrase the questions awkwardly. In this case, the question was likely something like was it worth the cost?

But yo, its not like we were demonstrating in the streets calling for wars n shit. More like, if you are going do do something, then do it right.

And yes, I've been equally as critical of the current president. I'd suggest your 54% polled are largely with me.

Soon, I'll have some Californian or another arguing with me, but saying that they aren't saying you should do something wrong if you are going to do something. Rather, crazy Republicans should just pay their taxes and keep their mouths shut! type logic.*

Instapundit's got the whole story here

I'm beginning to think the Kerry campaign leaked the investigation to save further embarrassment down the road.

I really want to know why the back guy had to have an ID card clipped to his bikini-bottom-band while wearing that costume.

It's for the Secret Service detail. They're still new to Kerry, and Kerry to them -- so the ID card helps keep everything straight.

It's got a nifty picture of John, with his codeword*, so noone forgets.

OK, everyone, don't forget to stop at the neighborhood tractor pull with your "Nader for President" petitions! And remember, an extra $5 to each one who signs something other than "Spider Man."

Go, Ralph, Go!
