I am largely ignorant of this board's dynamics.
Polite lies are the great social lubricant (yes SD, and Scotch).

It sounds like she gets a decent (though doubtless not ideal) amount of exercise from a health perspective, and there are worse things she could do than not be skinny.
ETA I am not her best friend, and she has made a bazillion choices that I would not have made (e.g. living two HOURS from work and making babies). Like rp, I think that having a job TWO HOURS from one's home is INSANE. However, if one is unwilling to move, and has kids, and has a full-time job, that pretty much knocks out the ability to be on any serious physical fitness routine unless one only needs like 3 hours of sleep a night.

Commuting to NY from any suburb is an hour. Commuting from a affordable suburb is 1 1/2 to 2.

Shoot to burn 250 extra calories or so per day (achievable in the 20-30 minutes of aerrobic exercise TM mentioned) and to cut back about 250 calories per day (equivalent to one candy bar). That gets you a pound per week, all else being equal.

Is the ppnyc board still around? She could post what she's eaten there every day and you guys could calculate the calories. And she could describe her exercise - how many times bending over in the Starbucks when the ibankers come in, how many stairs in the train station, that sort of thing.

I think perhaps the most annoying aspect of TM and the haters is their stubborn refusal to believe a person can change.
When is the last time I posted about material things or some stupid straw and Starbucks? I'm not condoning those types of posts but they are in the past.

That'll work. These things take time. It might take 6 months to lose 20 lbs.

Living in LA, I don't doubt it. I personally would not take any job that would effectively require a long commute -- e.g. I would likely never have moved here if the job I was offered had been downtown; there isn't anywhere near downtown that I would want to live, given my preferences. Happily, the job I moved here for (and my current job) are surrounded by the types of housing/neighborhoods that I like and can afford. While I have gained, oh, a LOT of weight, and lost much of my muscle tone, since taking the current job, I have not bitched about it much because I knew when I took the job that its inflexible schedule would not mesh well with my weird workout preferences. I have bitched about the fact that I was told we'd be on a flexible schedule soon after I started, but that didn't actually happen for a long time -- until last week.
How's that for some smug self-righteousness? It's almost like I'm a smug divorcee.

Just remember, the more weight you gain, the better you have to be at sucking dick.

I didn't say that the OJ verdict opened my eyes to the extent of the racial divide in this country.

So I've read.

I got that sense, even at the time.

As a then-recent ex-prosecutor, I was just pissed to see a man who had killed his wife (and Ron) walk free. I think the near obsessive fascination with this particular murder stammed from the combination of celebrity/sports stardom, and race.
And wasn't this about the time cable TV was really exploding -- 24 hour news cycle?

No doubt.

No no. The converse is not true. If you're great at sucking dick, you are not required to be fat.

I was really hoping for a Tyra-Lila catfight (I'd root for Tyra), and my ring fingers and index fingers are the same length.
