Days/dollars late/short, but I am not surprised by TM's enthusiasm. Once you go Miele, etc.

That the Yanks didnt show up for 3 games? Or by my opinion that we need a change?
Thurgreed hit it on the head when he noted that Torre played conservative and scared once Matsui and Sheff came back. As flat as they were in Game 2, I would have started Melky and Craig Wilson just to get some speed. Whatever. They need to dump A-Rod and Sheffield, keep going with the youth movement (a la Cano, Melky), see if Duncan can hit, and bring up Hughes mid year.

Anyway, I would have thought that Sweet Lou would have big credibility with the fans. From what I've read about Girardi's stint in Miami, his desire for complete control would make him coaching for George a huge disaster.
|
Lou is a douche. His schtick will work with a bunch of kids. Might even work with some vets, IF they played with him. Whereas Donnie and Gator might deal because they actually played with or against him, Jeter, Posada and Mo would (and should) tell him the fuck off at the first Lou outburst.
Whereas the clubhouse leaders won with Girardi. That gets him immmediate cache.

Any chance Buck Showalter gets a call? Personally, I think that George would be an idiot to let Torre go, but he ain't asking me.
|
Showalter is a bigger tyrant than Lou. He can't coach a team of vets.

Oh, and how awsome did Shanahan look the other night? I hope that I was wrong about his signing -- he may have a couple of more years let in him.
|
Two games does not a season make - but they needed a scorer to take the pressure of Jagr. Great move.
Lastly - on a hockey note - the Sharks put new signee Mike Grier on the 4th line. Big waste, if you ask me.

Buck is just horrible. His players always HATE him. Which is fine if the team actually wins, but his don't.

I understand it is a high quality vacuum....I cannot get all pumped up about a vacuum. [har no pun intended] When I researched them I of course knew Miele was a top contender but I just lost my desire to obtain one. Household appliances never really did it for me.....

5 Rules for building a championship baseball team
1. Pitching.
2. Pitching.
3. Pitching.
4. Clutch hitting.
5. Solid defense.
The Yanks, with a roster of overpaid stats junkies playing out of position, do not match with this formula.

That the Yankee bats went so cold after Damon's home run in game 2. How do *all* of those guys look so bad? Alex gets the blame because he is the Six Million Dollar (per second) Man, but Jeter and the rest of them all looked just as bad.

I rented this piece of shit from my local library. If you have not seen this trainwreck, stay as far away from it as possible. If you have a desire to see Scarlett Johansson looking hot (and she does look good in the movie) you are far better off simply cutting a hot picture of her out of a magazine and taping it to your t.v. screen for two hours.

There was also football this weekend, you know.
I loved this game.
And the guys at profootballtalk.com have about the funniest play by play I've ever read of a game.
From the first half: A reader says that Donovan McNabb just sent T.O. a text message: "Brian Dawkins has more receptions than you."
Later: A little birdie tells us that, as T.O. was trying to chew on the team's offensive linemen, their response was "Go f--k you some you."
More: Touchdown for Randy Moss. He sends T.O. a text message: "I suck less than you."
And so on. I love these guys, and they get better rumor intel than any other source.

2. Which leads me to my question. Mets: fucked by St. Louis now, or Tigers later? Mets aren't going to win any 6-5, 7-6, 8-7 etc. games against these teams by the looks of it.
Second question: is the Amazing Race the most brilliant piece of Al-Quada propaganda ever hatched by evil, freedom-hating minds? Every time I watch even five minutes of that show (as I was forced to do by the channel surfing missus last night) I am convinced that All Americans Must Die. I really hope it's not airing in other parts of the world (the damage the contestants are doing on their own is more than enough).

I saw the end of it because it was on right before The Wire. I feel like I killed more brain cells in that half hour than in a weekend-long mushroom and whippit bender.

You should have watched Jeeves and Wooster on PBS like I did. A good hoot and Hugh Laurie looking clean-shaven and 15 years younger.
Oh callow youth, ye flee too quickly.
