So right-wing bloggers are all hot and bothered about this photo, saying that Pelosi is "donning the garb of America's enemies." Wait until they find out that the White House has photos showing that Laura Bush already went over to the dark side:

Laura isn't leading the rally to reintroduce the ERA, so its not exactly the same thing.
And - although you know this, I'll say it anyway - the right wing bloggers care less that Pelosi feels the need to subjugate herself to muslim men this way, than that she felt the need to meet face-to-face with our enemies.

Well, apparently he still didn't belabor it enough for Slave to get it.
Hank, it's great when you assume a common base level of intelligence here, and shows real respect for your fellow posters. But, remember, just as we have Adder, you guys have Slave ... and Penske... and Spanky....

This makes no sense. Just thought you should know.

That's bullshit, inasmuch as they aren't criticizing the GOP congressmen currently in Syria. They just have a kneejerk need to criticize Pelosi.

Don't you get it? They right wing blogosphere is just upset that Pelosi sold out the feminist cause by "subjugating" herself. It has not thing to do with the whole Islam thing.
Presumably Slave also believes that Pelosi should refuse to remove any head coverings or put on long pants should she wish to visit St. Peter's.

I don't get this at all. I'm as feminist as they come, but just as I'd cover my hair in a Roman Catholic churches in some countries and in some Jewish homes, I'd cover my hair, if asked, in Arab homes. Why should someone, especially someone on a diplomatic mission, be disrespectful and rude?

He's anti-predatory lending. A bold stance in his party...
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070404/..._the2008_trail
I agree that a loan that does not disclose all of its terms and rate structure is actionable. But how can a loan that has a disclosure of all its terms in the documents signed be predatory? Unless those making the charge are implying the borrower was somehow not equipped to understand those terms (which would seems denigrating to the type of person usually "victimized" by these loans). Is Edwards saying some people aren't smart enough to borrow properly and need extra protection?
If that's the case, why not apply such safety net legislation to 80% of the country which is spending beyond its means?

There are disclosures written in such a way as to be understandable, and there are disclosures written in such a way as to defy understanding.

This is, yet, another act of agression by a seriously delusional state that is close to acquiring nuclear weapons. You guys are a fucking joke.

I thought that this was a pretty good article that sort of demonstrated how the underground economy works. It seems really, really hard to get out of once you're in, because the interest rates are so high. One assumes that such lenders are not good Christians.
There was also a piece recently on NPR about New Mexico's lack of payday loan legislation.

When they're opaque and designed to deceive, they should be actionable. When you've got eyes bigger than your pocketbook, you should pay the penalty for being reckless.
There's a lot more of one distressed borrower than there is the other.
ETA: If you can't understand your rate's going to float after 36 months, you don't deserve to waste Congress' debate time.
