There are still ways to get all the programming for free with an illegal access card, in which case you can't hook your shit up to a phone line. But you can get all the stuff.
And, maybe this makes me a legal timmy, and the economist in me comes through ("tragedy of the commons" and all that), but fuck you. Pay for it, asshole. Providers like DirecTV are the reason that the cable industry doesn't have the stranglehold they used to over tv. They're the reason that these assholes are innovating a little bit. They're the ones driving cable providers to have more HDTV available now. Because cable has been spanked by the flood to satellite tv.
So, fuck you, pay for it. You're a lawyer, you can afford it.

This just in, and I post this for no other reason than just an fyi to the peoples of the board.
Directv v. many many many named peoples...
Complaint alleging violation of the Federal Communications Act and the Electronic Communications Act regarding defendants' possession of pirate access devices and the unauthorized interception of satellite signals. Plaintiff seeks injunctive relief and compensatory and statutory damages.

Are you inferring that you got sued or are you just making us aware that "Dan" is - yet again - pulling an RIIA and cracking down on college kids?

Nope, I pay for my service. Every freakin dime of it.
It just came in on the Courthouse News update and I was just remembering a heated discussion of how the digital signal was coming into "someone's" house and how "this person" had every right to capture it blah blah blah (see above for quote).
And it's not college kids stealing satellite - it's the white collars.

Dan should pay more attention to keeping their signal up during rainstorms.

1) No they don't. They're very talented musicians. You might not care for their songs or Stuart's voice, but there's no doubting their talent. And I liked Moby back in 1993, when you had never heard of him. Now I admire his musicianship, but wouldn't call myself a fan.
2) Yes, I am 12. You figured it out. And I shop at Hot Topic; haven't you been paying attention to anything Paigow says? That's rhetorical, btw, fwiw, etc. etc.
Assboot.

I don't know this Dan personally, but I have had DirecTV for 6 years and have never lost signal in a rainstorm, snow storm or ice storm. It did flicker during a mean thunderstorm.
My cable used to go out whenever there was an important game on.
Perhaps you should upgrade your equipment, or cut the trees down around your house.

Stop being such a pretentious schmuck.
I've probably forgotten more about NYC club music and DJ/producers than you've ever bothered to learn.
Did your new issue of Teen Beat arrive yet in the mail, Mr. OC?

Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.
It's amazing that the images stuck to the film.

Oh shit, did I miss the start of another FB coolness showdown? I just left my seat for a minute to get my Members Only jacket from the car--what did I miss?

"Dan" or "Dave" is what they refer to Directv in the Hacker community.
I had it for 2 years and it went out ever single time there was as much as a raindrop in the air. After a point, it wasn't even worth upgrading the hacks on the card.
Last I checked, no trees in NYC except in Central Park and on the rearview mirrors of some cabs

Mine did! I already got several pages stuck together though, so I can't loan it.

Anyone who posts on a lawyer's chatboard is automatically uncool.
That being said, a vintage Member's Only jacket is tres cool.
