How much is he paying you? And not that kind of mental stimulation. I have a three strikes/out rule on any noir-er bringing up politics or public policy AT ALL.

if Bush were really all Religous crazy, wouldn't he be making all our soldiers in Iraq dig a hole to bury their poop?
  • Deuteronomy:23:13 And thou shalt have a paddle upon thy weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee:

Or do we not need to worry about making God mad there because of who we're fighting?

Probably explains the Texans' failures too

The Houston Press wanted to know where it all went wrong this year for the Astros. So they consulted a professional:
Quote:
Where did things go wrong? It's easy to pinpoint. On October 17, at 10:44 p.m., closer Brad Lidge, a pitcher so unhittable he'd earned the name "Lights Out," gave up a ninth-inning go-ahead homer to the Cards' Albert Pujols. The Astros, and Lidge especially, have never been the same since.

The only way to scientifically explain all this is through astrology. Houston astrologist Figgy Jones used cutting-edge computer technology to analyze where the stars were at that point, and what they mean for the ugly, evil thing that was born at 10:44 that dismal October night.

Any idiot who knows astrology (umm...straining mightily not to make a "redundancy alert" here) could have predicted Pujols's blast at that moment, Jones says. The Card first baseman "had a sudden burst of masculine hunting-and-gathering energy, courtesy of Uranus hitting his Mars."

Lidge, on the other hand, was -- wait for it -- having doubts about whether he wanted his team to win. At that moment in time, Jones says, he might have felt it was better for the universe for the Cardinals to triumph. "Maybe deep down, he saw the Astros as not as deserving as whatever the other team Pujols was on," says Jones, obviously not a fantasy-baseball freak. "Instead of taking one for the team, he gave one up -- for the collective team of the 'greater good.' "

She goes on to explain that (something long and astrologically technical about Mars) happened, "meaning his actions were in the best interest of his deeply held beliefs...Lidge unconsciously saw that day, that moment -- based on the exact time, which we have -- in clear focus."

Well, that explains that. Although we kinda wish Lidge just would have begged off from pitching that night instead of serving one up.

So what does the future hold for Lidge? (Or, more important, Astros fans?) Nothing much good: "He may go into some type of humanitarian work, but it won't be for a few years," Jones says. "He's got to thoroughly get disillusioned with professional baseball first."
ETA: and Ask a Mexican is currently my favorite syndicated column nationwide.

So I recently found myself outside a fashionable pre-school in a fashionable (though tasteful) neighborhood of Manhattan. It was a beautiful afternoon so I sat for a while and watched the women (I didn't see any men) pick up their children. It really struck me how diverse and fashion-forward New York is, or at least I think it is compared to the rest of the country. Has anyone else noticed the trend of Central and South American and African American women adopting Jewish kids?
They used to use French or German au pairs. When did folks on the UWS get so cheap?

Hey I'm back

I thought hook'em horns were the thumb and pinky and that this is "rock-on?"

Update, I've only slept 7 hours since Sunday.
I saw a guy today wearing a very nice suit that had an impressive set of red lambchops. And jet black hair. He made me think of Coltrane for some reason.
A guy who was checking the public phone for change said "Hey Babe" to me. Because I'm smoking hot.
RT, the dogs are cute. How old is the puppy?
Hi Leagl!
I'm eating my second bag of chips today because I'm delerious and forgot I ate a bag of chips already. And because I'm a size 0 and I can eat fucking anything I want hahahahaha.
Ty, the money paid to Deion Branch still keeps the Seahawks well under the salary cap due to money left over from not paying Hutchinson.

I think that's it.

eta, Thanks str8 for ruining Big Brother for me. Even though I didn't care who won because it wasn't Janelle. But Erika should have taken Janelle with her. Even though she still would have lost, at least she would have had *some* dignity.

Lucky for him his dad didn't take things too literally:
  • If you have a disobedient son, then you can take him to the elders of the town and proclaim,

"This son of ours is disloyal and defiant; he does not heed us. He is a glutton and a drunkard." Thereupon the men of his town shall stone him to death. Thus you will sweep out evil from your midst.

Get some sleep, dear.

Unless its not-low double-digit orgasms that have been keeping you awake, in which case rock on (or hook 'em horns, whichever).

"Rock on" and "Hook 'em Horns" may be identical then, because that is certainly "Hook 'em Horns." I will note, though, that the horns failed to hook 'em despite the appropriate encouragement from Mr. McConaughey.

The Puppy is now three. She was about nine months old when the picture with the Displaced Dog was taken. She was about two when the picture of her nose was taken.

Thank you. I think they're cute too, but I'm severely biased on this point.

Whitney Houston is getting divorced (in which I only believe in certain circumstances).
