That's just God's way of telling non-natives to go back home and stop crowding up the Bay Area.

Judging from all the Red Sox hats, there are more native Sioux in Iowa than SF natives here.

I imagine the salesperson probably thought it was fun. It didn't look like a robust sales area in the store.

One advantage of shopping at the more upscale stores is that the help is willing to indulge you that little fiction.

I actually remember when that mall opened.
Also when the Willow Grove Mall opened.
I am old.

the liquor store in Jenkintown closed. I could "walk to the car" and get to that. now we have to get to the one by Trader Joe's, or the Willow Grove one, before they close. I don't know the big picture, but whatever gains the PLCB achieved by shutting Jenkintown down impact upon me unfairly.

I don't know what the PLCB is, but I was shocked (shocked!) to find Jenkintown a ghost town last weekend.
I remember that state store. They used to serve me, even though I was underage.
I was happy to see that the old movie theater in Jenkintown is still there though. I saw Liquid Sky, Koyaanisquatsi and the Rocky Horror Picture Show there a long, long time ago.

I honestly love Liquid Sky, like one of my 10 favorite movies. The problem with it is this, hardly anyone has seen it, and when we would show it to people we seemed nuts. The woman gets raped liked 5 times in the first half hour, but it's done in a funny way, once you've seen the whole thing.
So we would show it to people, laughing at the lines "you're a fly, you're a fly..." as she is being raped. But our friends didn't really see the same humor. on the surface, at that point in the movie, it seems quite horrible.
SPOILER
By the way I saw Hard Candy last night. Talk about a movie quickly going from "oh god that poor girl" to a happier story.
PLCB is the acronym for the liquor store governing entity. (I googled to find it out)

Most photographic evidence of earthquakes takes the form of grainy surveillance video or pictures of stock clerks sweeping up broken bottles, etc. The ubiquity of cell phone cameras may change that.
I found this funny. Not raped-five-times-in-30-minutes funny, but funny nonetheless.

"to a happier story"?
Isn't that the story about a teen and a pedophile and she turns the tables on him and tortures him badly? Turning the tables but "happier" might be a stretch.
Happier for him? Or you were happy to see him tortured.

implicit in my post was a recognition that conventional wisdom would point away from this be the start of a comedy.
