No one has misplaced concerns about carryons, because the fucking airlines let the first have of the plane get on with two purses, a garment bag, a diaper bag, and their livestock, while telling the late arrivals that there's no more room, so they'll have to check their dayplanner. I've noticed that airlines have gotten a lot stricter about the carry-on rules lately, but maybe I have just been lucky. I have never understood why gate agents don't have the balls to enforce the rules at the beginning of the boarding process, when they can prevent the havoc caused by overhead space-hoarding assholes merely by pointing out that the number and size limit applies to everyone, but do have the balls to anger people who won't be getting the space in the cabin to which their ticket ought to entitle them. I could understand wanting to avoid confrontation, but that system just invites it in the end.

The battery on Coltrane's cell would be deader than he is, if his cell were in my house. I'm always forgetting to charge the fucker -- so I'll keep my landline (no bells and whistles, no long distance access fee, $17/mo). In fact, my next purchase is going to be a high quality hard line/ cordless combination phone (one station is a hardline, and you can buy multiple cordless stations). That way if you have a power failure you'll have a working phone.

Hey, sometimes they enforce it, but RP's observation seems right--the FAs stave off confrontation until the end, when the get a few really pissed off customers who have to check their laptops.

ETA, forcing everyone -- not just late boarders.

I've only seen them do that with late(r) boarders recently, but I have seen an airline (which escapes my memory entirely) refuse to let people in lower-numbered/front seats board the plane until their rows were called. I believe they even sent those people to the back of the line.

And the Tigers are ahead (4-run comeback in the bottom of the 6th)! WTF?!? My poor father won't know what to do rooting for a team that wins a few games!

Recently, on a flight, the flight attendant came over to my row, and began to stuff someone's god-awful "art" purchased in the Bahamas under the seat in front of the Brazenette's car seat. I asked her to move it as the diaper bag, etc. was under that seat, and she told me to move the stuff so that it was under the seat in front of me.

In the interest of seeing the plane take off on time, I did not have a hissy-fit. Nonetheless, I believe that when I buy a seat, including one for my daughter, my purchase of said seat entitles me to sole occupation of the area under the seat in front of said seat.

I got home and tried to figure out how to afford a netjet share.
