Do you know how hard it was to resist rubbing that in his snout the last couple of days?
If we start with all the I-told-you-sos and Slave-you-miserable-sluts, it will never end. And Hank will have to revise his numbers. Better to graciously smile each time another prognostication is made, and rip them apart for the stupidity they are uttering now and not the stupidity they uttered then.

Not that any of that matters--you're right--Allen won't go much of anywhere having lost his seat.

I won't forgive Gore losing his own state. It was amazing. And Tennessee is a purple state, not an outright red one.

At the time, I thought it would hurt Webb some, but I didn't think it would be fatal by any means. I declined to say this only because I didn't see that the conversation would go anywhere productive. I was surprised in the following days that Webb got a bounce out of it. So it's not like my prognostication on the subject was much better.

You guys never get this right. Bush was not under oath and Clinton was. Clinton could lie all he wanted to about the affair with Monica as long as it wasn't under oath in front of a federal judge.

Under oath in front of a state judge OK? What about under oath in a deposition?

STP. And I didn't say he was under oath, just that he lied.

That is the inherant problem in responding to a post before reading all the subsequent posts (when you are behind). With such posts you are always a day late and a dollar short.

Pelosi said that without McCloskey's hard fought campaign, Pombo would not have lost. I wanted to crawl under the table when she said it.
I just tell myself if McCloskey had won the Republicans would still hold the seat. It is really Pombo's fault there is a Dem in what should be a safe Republican seat. All he had to do was be a little less greedy and stupid.

The Republicans were truly corrupt (they had the power) and I hope the Dems stick it to the Republicans that did step over the line without mercy. If there is a silver lining to the Dem take over, it is that corruption was punished.

Are you honestly trying to claim you regularly use this as a filter?

Were I to decline to respond to this post, would it speak volumes?

Really? I just kind of figured that Allen screwed up a sure win by being totally incompetant. The guy was such a moron that George Will ridiculed him in his column before the election and pratically endorsed Webb.
If you are right Virginia has changed a lot since the last time I hung out there.

Webb did seem to get a bump in the polls out of it. Bizarre.
