So, you completely ignored my post about bidding in vendors for large-scale services for multiyear periods?

So, WTF do I bother for? I read YOUR posts!

Erratta

I suspect doctors are over-represented in this convention crowd.

Fighting Terrorists Abroad so that We Don't Have to Fight Them Here

That is a winner of a line. Tommy Franks said it in his speech, too.

Iraq = fly paper. I invented that.

I agree with Club. They do read this board.

Who the fuck ever convinced - who was it . . brokaw? one of those other fluffy-hairs? - that they had the power and the right to break in on a Presidential speech to soto voce announce that there are protestors in attendance who disagree with the speech being given?

What fucking gall.

Fuck you, you slimey partisan piece of "we're just reporting" shit.

Atticus, the "bias" ball is in your court. Go sit with the shithead and defend him.

Latest Job Approval Ratings

Did you catch the latest GWB job approval poll? Over 50%. And that was before the convention bounce. I am predicting a 3-5 point bounce, which is alot given that the truly undecideds are few and far between.

Carl Rove or whoever it was who came up with the idea to run the RNC styled more as a challenger convention instead of an incumbent convention, was a genius.

ETA - and whoever came up with the idea that it was a good idea to have the DNC revolve around Kerry's Vietmnam war record obviously didn't vet Kerry's Vietnam war record. Or listen to his 1971 senate testimony.

Is it any wonder that Fox News is trouncing NBC in the ratings? People are just sick of that bullshit.

You would think if she smokes that she would be thinner. She should have been the one named Barabara after her grand mother.

I don't watch television news, except for Jon Stewart. I have no idea what you're talking about or what motivated it, but I agree it is --- if it occurred exactly as you say --- poor ethics and poor journalism. It's not the story.

I don't want to dignify this by suggesting it be a board motto, so instead I will simply be proud of the .0001% possibility that this is a true statement.

Okay, but Miller was talking about new weapons systems that Kerry voted against, not how we bought bolts or bricks. So Kerry's votes had nothing to do with non-competitive bidding.

I didn't ignore it. I went home to watch Wonk Monster so that his mom could take Wonk Princess to her driving lesson. It's harder posting anything that requires any length of response with an 8 year old screaming in your ear to go hook up his new video game.

I don't agree with it, but I don't really have anything to address it with other than the fact that I am not, by and large, in favor of behemoth corporations engaging in essentially public duties. I believe the multi-year large scale contracts are a barrier to entry that keeps the universe of contractors small. I think this is largely for the benefit of said contractors.

I agree with those members of Congress, the business community, and public activists who have long opposed the current system of government procurement because it supports and fosters an oligopoly.

There. Is that better?

I'll give Not Bob credit for addressing Kerry's votes on the defense bills.

No pictures, but from Wonkette today:
  • • Reliable Source: Jenna Bush, at Kid Rock show, spotted smoking (that would be illegal) and drinking Miller Genuine Draft.

So I guess the cite is Not Bob, citing Wonkette, citing the Washington Post's Reliable Source column. Or something like that. I'll have Fenwick blue-book it later.
