And of the Republicans polled --
42% say this "surge" is not a real change in strategy (Q 18)
42% say this "surge" wil make no difference (Q 15)
32% would vote against funding the troop increase (Q 16)
and
11% want the plan to fail (Q 19)
Sounds like you have some work to do on your own side as well.

1/3 versus 1/9 isn't even close.
That being said, this 11% are probably the same clowns that voted for Buchanan.

Link to Fox poll - See Question #19
Do you personally want the Iraq plan that President Bush announced last week to succeed?
Democrats - 34% NO
---
What the flying fuck is wrong with the people in your party?
|
At the risk of going all Clinton, please define the word "success" in your question. Does it mean be implemented and result in roughly 20k more troops in Iraq, or does it mean the surge will result in a happy, cheerful, Iraq?
You interpretted as the latter, but given that there is ongoing opposition to the plan, it could also interpretted fairly as the former.
In other words, shitty questions get you shitty, and meaningless, polling results.

It was a Fox poll. It was designed to be ambiguous, for maximum news making effect. Like most polls by news organizations.

FWIW I'm still in touch with my former boss the Democrat Senator. He tells me that he is appalled that many of the Dems in leadership have abandoned their duties as a US Senator to wish for, and work for, things to hurt Bush even if they also hurt the country. He is too much a straight shooter for that, and, as i say, he is appalled.

Do people think he is peaking too soon? Yes or no?
Also, I was assuming he was unqualified to be a Commander in Chief (much like Clinton was and look at how badly that turned out), however, I didn't realise this guy is a war hero.
He doesn't look at that old..........

Right. That's it.
No, I hope it works (assuming the implementation is inevitable). I would love to have a stable, democratic, U.S.-friendly Iraq. I just don't think it is likely.

You should share some of your more intimate, late night IM conversations. Though the FB may be the better venue.

Are there any other kind? Half this nation's dumber than oak. The same people answering exit polls or telephone polls are the sam nitwits who have time to raise money to challenge the teaching of evolution in public schools, or blow scads of their modest salaries on lottery tickets and trash rags about Britney and Brangelina. A random poll in this country needs a "mentally challenged" curve built into it.
