Speaking of sports that Americans don't really follow...

If not so sure. It seems to favor the climbers because they won't be out of it after the first time trial. It seems most years there's a time trial (not just team) before the mountains really get going, so the time trialers put some minutes into the field. Then a climber can go out on a break, but no one cares.
This year, the pyrennees should be really interesting, because the group could all be really close in time. A climber could grab the maillot jaune and use the adrenaline to hang on through the TT. Or there could be lots of changes in the standing each day.

Is that a derivative of "assclown", as in "everything was OK until that no-talent assclown starting making hit records"?

Wait. Which sport are you talking about now? College football? Because that isn't bogus. Each team gets their shot, right? Pro? It's worked just fine all these years. The ones complaining are usually the ones who lost.
And I actually prefer the way pro football does it. It would seem like it depends too much on the coin toss, but I disagree. If you don't get the ball first, make your defense stop the other team. If you can do it, you deserve to win. If you can't, tough shit. Defense wins championships. But I concede that many people think that both teams should get their shot at the end zone.

Wrong. Cole Hahn driving mocs cost about $120 bucks - less than some high end sneakers. I bought 'em cause they were cheap and looked nice and felt good. I didn't even know the brand until I flipped the shoe over. I was going to buy this other brand called Geo or Geox or something like that, but the fucking shoe had a huge "GEO(X)" stamp on it.

That's true, but I think it's already starting to change. It may not happen for another 25 years, but when Brittany is President, Dylan and Taylor, stars of the MLS, will be all over the Wheaties boxes.

College is shorter, so its ok. Pro games are too long the way it is already.

Not to be a name-brand-dropper, but have you tried the Hanes premium t-shirts? I admit that I knew they were Hanes because it said "Hanes" on the bag, but I didn't buy them to impress anyone. See, there's no tag. But I suppose you don't wear t-shirts, either.

I'll talk about any sport:
Soccer is hokey when decided by PKs
NFL is mildly hokey because both teams don't get a shot.
College is hokey because they start at the 25 and then have to go for two, but only after three overtimes.
Hockey now changes teh rules too.
Sebby's home run contest is even more cheesy.
I just don't see the need to resolve the few ties that exist through artificial systems in the regular season.
If you think the coinflip is essentially irrelevant, why do the players on the team celebrate like they've scored a touchdown when it comes up their call?

Maybe, but you'd have to ask Atticus or Slave.

What? College games are interminable because the clock stops too much and they haven't changed the rules to create a nice 3-hour package.
And at least NFL overtime ends after a defined period (6 or 7 double ot playoff games excepted). Catch that 7-OT game between Arkansas and Miss. St. (or whoever--Redneck U I vs. Redneck U II) last year? I think I turned if off in the third quarter to go out to dinner. Came back and it was still on when I was getting ready to go to bed.
