Surely we could see right through her ruse. I mean, sure, you could fool some prison guards, but you couldn't pretend to be a lawyer on this board if you weren't. We're seasoned professionals.

I mean, let's say for example that you were on this board pretending to be something you're not. Let's think of an example. Hmmmm. This is a tough one, but I think I have one. How about a paralegal who isn't really a paralegal, but is actually a secretary. I mean, it would take a brilliant mind to have everyone here thinking that you're a paralegal when you're not. You would have to be good at it because you wouldn't want people finding out your secret and thinking that you were completely full of shit about everything you've ever posted. I mean, that would be like posting about how hot you are and how important men hit on you when that isn't the case at all, right? Who would do such a thing?

Now don't get me wrong. There's nothing wrong with being a secretary. Some of my best friends are secretaries. But why not just be who you are? It's not like lying about who you are would get you laid by the "inmates" of this board. The whole example is just pathetic and sad.

You don't like New York, Boston, or San Francisco, but you like Dallas, LA, and Charlotte? What are you, allergic to culture?

My local homeless gal answered her cell phone in front of Mrs. Coltrane the other day. Mrs. Coltrane stated that she "almost kicked it out of her hand!"

When I get in before 7:00, it takes me 12-15 minutes. If I have to come it during rush hour, it can take over an hour. And that's even if I don't stop for starbucks.

I can understand the Dallas and Charlotte bit. She's just a country girl.

But LA? It's sort of the worst of NY, Boston and San Francisco rolled into one without any of the good stuff. Unless you're hooked on celebrity watching.

ppnyc, you have to decide what works for you. it will probably annoy people if you whine about being fat when you could be working out in lieu of other activities, but as long as you don't freak out about them being annoyed, who cares? You have to recognize and acknowledge that you have made a choice not to work out if you aren't going to work out, though. It may be the best choice for you right now, but it is still a choice.
Well stated.

FWIW, among the wives and mothers I was talking about who are in fantastic shape is my older sister. She is an OBGyn, has a four year old son, twin two year olds, and adopted my younger sister's baby who just turned one. Her husband is an orthopedic surgeon and yes, they have a live-in au pair. That said, my sister watches what she eats and takes the kids on bike rides or otherwise is active and in shape. She certainly has plenty going on.

I disagree.

I rank Boston and LA a tie for first place.

SF sucks more than almost any other major city. I could never live in NY but I love to visit it.

Yes! Actually, saying I'm allergic is disingenuous, because it's not like I could choose whether or not to be allergic.

New Yorkers aren't very friendly, this is true. But I've found that a lot of what people consider rude or unfriendly is the fact that we don't say, "Hi!" to people we don't know, smile for no reason or chat pointlessly about the weather or whatever. We're mostly in a hurry for no reason, which some may feel is rude, I guess.

But I would rather get in and out of wherever I am as fast as possible. If I don't know you, why are we talking like you're my best friend from camp I haven't seen in years? Just give me my change, put my sandwich and chips in a bag and let's both get on with our lives.

I would like to hire you as my life planner. This is the perfect new career for me! There would also be a stripper car on the bus. Sometimes it would be used for strip aerobics, and sometimes it would be for fun of a sexual kind.

The weather is awesomest here, of all those choices.

Can we think of a better name for Mrs. Coltrane? Sequels has kind of worn off. Where is paigow when we need her? Where, bilmore, WHERE?

I am not sure if you are thinking this is what I said or not but I just wanted to stated definitively that this is NOT what I said. What I said is that everyone has exactly 24 hours in a day, and different people choose to fill that time with different things, depending on their priorities. If ppnyc is making being fit a priority, then she will make time to devote to her fitness. I at no point stated that she (or anyone else) should. I was responding to her statement that she could did not have time to devote to being fit and I pointed out that she, like everyone else, has 24 hours in a day to do with as she's sees fit based on her priorities.

Carry on.
