I'm signed up for a 10-day August trip to the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu and welcome any suggestions, etc. I'll be doing a group tour so my schedule is somewhat set, though I'll probably add on an excursion or two at the end of the trip. Add on choices are: Peruvian rainforest (3-5 days), Lake Titicaca (1-2 days) or Ica, Paracas and Nazca Lines (1-3 days). The first and third options sound most intriguing to me. Third option includes Peruvian penguins!!
My sister and my mom went two years ago. They weren't all that impressed with Lima, but they LOVED Machu Picchu. They stayed at an eco hotel not too far away from Machu Picchu that boasted a gagillion varieties of orchids and a spectacled bear habitat. I'll try to dig up the name of it for you. They highly, highly recommended it and wished they'd spent more time exploring Macchu Picchu.

Eta: I think this is the hotel

Oops.

You should go to Peru solely b/c it's fun to say "Machu Picchu" and "Titicaca!"

It's been many years, but if Galleria Uno is still there it is a truly fantastic gallery. And place to meet artistes.

I think it's where you win going on the Price is Right, at least 20 years ago.

All shows live on on TV LAND.

I've never been to Whistler. I ski Colorado, and not much else.

Fisher Island

Have to be in Miami for wife's work and wanted to add on a nice weekend.

Has anyone been to the Fisher Island Resort? Looks more relaxing than being right in the middle of South Beach.

Disneyland

Of the various packagers of Disney deals, Disney.com, Alaska Air kids fly free, expedia, costco etc etc et al. is one any better than the other, i.e. cheaper for what is essentially a fungible vacation package?!?!?!?

Napa/Sonoma Winery Roundup

For spectacle/tasting room architecture/tour:
  • Domaine Chandon (champagne tour more interesting than most wineries' tours)
  • Sterling Vineyards (funicular)
  • Niebaum-Coppola
  • Domaine Carneros

Old-skooler tasting rooms:
  • Grgich Hills (whites)
  • Cakebread
  • Silver Oak

Like the wine; tasting experience was meh:
  • ZD Wines

Yet to be tried but recommended by others:
  • Robert Sinskey
  • J Vineyards

Not even with Ruisbroyek's tongue:
  • V. Sattui
