I am concerned with the message this sends to our enemies, especially giving the rhetoric coming out of Spain at the moment and how the EU (minus the good guys) is essentially leaving us hanging out to dry after we protected their collective asses for the better part of a century.

I did like the Jon Stewart show tonight. "So far, we've got a police state in Iraq and Socialism in Spain. But we're trying for democracy somewhere and I'm sure we'll get there soon!" I'm paraphrasing, of course.

They are wise to be frantic. They are the next target. Then us again.

Meanwhile, all you hear from European muslims is how they are worried they will be retaliated against by non-muslims. Yet that didn't happen in the US after 9/11 and there is nothing to support it happening in Europe after 3/11.

The only people who have been retailiated against in Europe are the jews by the muslims and various assorted anti-semites (think French and Germans).

The kurds have a good bit of democracy going on and soon the rest of Iraq will be able to join in the fun. I am just not sure that it is wise to force the kurds to stay part of Iraq simply to appease the Turks.
