I think Matthew Perry is doing a great job not being Chandler Bing. He's the first Friend who has managed to pull it off.
I like the show very much, too. I am glad that Bradley Whitford is not playing Josh, because I hated Josh, only slightly less than I hated Donna.

I like the show too, but wish that Sorkin would hire someone who can write 60-90 seconds worth of skit material that's actually funny. If Matt and Danny are supposed to be God's Gift to Good Comedy Writing, then make me laugh, dammit.

(Though the first "show" opener with this Gilbert & Sullivan theme was funny in an overeducated college pussy-boy way, I suppose.)

My biggest problem with the show is that I think that Steven Webber is god-awful and whoever is doing his makeup should be shot.

I like Steven Webber. But they need to either use him as Steven Webber or hire someone else to be the hard ass.

My gf wonders why the president of NBS is only concerned about one show.

I wonder why, if NBC (by creating this show) knows that Saturday Night Live has zero edge, comedy or innovation, they don't re-work Saturday Night Live.

I think it's because he's being Josh Lyman instead. It's really weird watching Matthew Perry do his best Bradley Whitford impersonation.

That said, I'm still watching the show. I'm hopeful that this team can make it work.

Well, yes, that's kind of what I meant. He's absolutely horrible in this role.

He looks very dehydrated. Are they trying to make him look like Al Pacino in the Devil's Advocate?

It definitely requires a willing suspension of disbelief with respect to the sketch comedy, which detracts from the show a bit. Sorkin can do better -- he really mastered sports TV and White House press, so this effort is weak.

Speaking of willing suspensions of disbelief, how the fuck do you "miss the entrance to the LIE" coming from Sag Harbor? You'd have to be drunk.

This is my fave. I like clicking on links when I am on phone conferences.

Crazy Alice is a Stern show caller who curses like crzee. Some very bad racial language on there. I do not click on those but some of the others are funny.

Hank -- I'm evaluating editors for our joint complaint letter to our alma mater. Could you please submit your proposed rewrite for evaluation?

My fave Hank avatars are:

Other village person (I think it is the Leatherman?)

Kim Jong-Il

My thoughts on avatars that Hank should consider:

Mr. T.
Queen Elizabeth
Bill Clinton
Hillary Clinton (as a tribute to a now-retired non-socker)
