Can Michael Jackson be both a member of the Nation of Islam and a devotee of that religion he is (seventh day adventist?- the one where the peeople knock on doors and hand out pamphlets)? Or did he convert?

You're nuts. Wizard of Oz is CLEARLY an allegory all about William Jennings Bryan, President McKinley, the American eastern moneyed establishment and about how unless the dollar changes to the Silver standard, the average joe is doomed to ruin. See about a million websites on the subject.

Note, I don't really buy that this was Baum's intent, nor do I think that this particular interpretation is very persuasive or interesting, but I also think that Authorial intent is irrelevant when doing literary analysis; an author didn't have to intend a certain interpretation for that interpretation to be valid, and an unintended intrepretation can be more interesting and informative than the actualy text of the work.

Sorry for posting so much today (work is kinda slow); but I gotta give a shout out to disc golf. If you haven't tried it, give it a shot. Very much fun cutting class in high school and heading down to Toronto Island to play DG all day, and it still provides for a relaxing break on a lazy weekend. Never became a good putter, however. I recommend the Cobra for a driver (or something else very stable or even understable) and a Hammer as an up-disc, and an Aviar putter. That's all you need for hours and hours of fun.
