What I Learned In School Today
Female lawyers are victims.
Male lawyers are victims.
White lawyers are victims.
Black lawyers are victims.
Lawyers with kids are victims.
Lawyers without kids are victims.
Associates are victims.
We are all not what we claim we are.
Men rule the world.
Women rule the world.
Men are victims.
Women are victims.
We are all assholes, suck, and should shut the fuck up.
Actually, that last one was true, and, with it, I am shutting up for several days.
P.S. Flinty, monkeys are victims too.
P.P.S. Insurance lawyers are the biggest victims of them all
P.P.P.S. I'll even admit that Paigow is a victim, but she deserves it.
P.P.P.P.S Arby is not a victim, she's a bitch, she's a bitch, she's a big fat bitch.

I take it back. No way in hell would I want to fuck you.
A few months ago, my department was under review by the mother ship. The mother ship people (two women) had given my boss a heads up that the review was coming down and he said "don't worry your pretty little head about it, it's all under control." They came down to talk with me about everything that we'd been doing in my deparment for the last six months, and then they went to talk to my boss to make recommendations and suggestions, based on our discussion. We made sure to bring a man (in fact, he was my colleague from the other department, I like him a lot and I think he's excellent at what he does, and I'm very, very envious of the resources that he gets) with us to the meeting so we'd be listened to. 75% of the conversation was directed at my colleague, though he is on the same level I am.
I'm sorry. I live in Texas and I work for a very Texas company. I used to kid myself that there wasn't an old-boys network out there, and if there was a old-boys network, then I could talk the talk and walk the walk, because, hey, I'm an 11th generation Texan. But I've seen too much of the crap and lip service and I'm still too bitter about last night's banquet to begin to kid myself that women in this state are taken as seriously as men are. Fortunately, we're fiesty and tenacious and we've got the vote, so that has to count for something.

Zack Randolph coming into His Own As A blazer
everyone said Zack Randolph would step up and become an integral part of the Portland ball club, but I didn't expect this solid of a contribution in his second year

Zach Randolph, who was pulled over early Tuesday and arrested on accusations of driving under the influence of intoxicants, driving without a valid driver's license, and driving without proof of insurance. Randolph was released after spending nearly three hours at the downtown Justice Center.
Within hours, radio reports around the country again were making light of the team's continuing behavioral problems, such as saying the Blazers' media guide next season would have arrest mug shots instead of pictures of players in uniform.

My wife has handled two suits in the last year alleging (and ultimately proving) just that. Woman X is promoted into a job vacated by man Y, quits because she finds out she's not being paid as much as her predecesor, to be replaced by a man with less experience working for more money who is incompetent and then fired, and when due to a merger at her new job she reapplies for her old, they still refuse to pay her what they were paying her replacement. Ka-Ching. The strangest thing is that the employer didn't settle the suit. How stupid is that?
OTOH, sometimes this phenomena can also be attributed to a woman just refusing to stand up for more money. My former mother in law worked for half as much as her predecessor, with two fewer staff under her (out of five - university administration position) and was replaced by a man earning more than twice as much. She never threatened to walk before she quit (for personal reasons unrelated to the job), at which point they offered to double her salary to keep her to stay. Was that her employer's fault, or hers? I don't know, but its not a one dimentional question.

Do you mind telling my brother the same thing?
I don't really know about Plaxo, but it sounds like a cult. I couldn't see him when he e-mailed me, but I think his eyes were glazed over.

It's like the birthday alarm thing. It just screams "I am a lazy asshole."
It's a spam cult.

Because men are mostly shallow pricks who require more in the way of looks than female lawyers generally bring to the table.

It's like this alcoholic, obese guy I went to high school with:
Gossipy friend, "Did you know X sleeps with guys?"
Me, "I thought he liked chicks."
Gossipy friend, "If you looked like him, you'd take what you could get."

It is not at all inconsistent with the misogynist role. Though, it makes me think you are either (a) a chick who wants us to think you are hot, either because (i) you are not or (ii) that is what you value most about yourself or (b) a guy who wants us to think that you can get a chick that hot.
I don't find Aloha's picture of Phoebe Cates confusing/message-y in this way because it's part of his FTARH theme.
