Then again, I was a sprinter, so I always did less yardage than the distance guys. Maybe they were doing 12K, I don't know.
And you're a tri-guy, so yeah, you swim a lot of distance straight.
eta: are you talking meters or yards? I'm talking meters.

Most of my experience is from Masters workouts. typical workout (depending on day of the week-I avoided IM day and time of year) would be 15 minute open warm up; hour workout: a drill set; main set; sprint set; 200-500 cooldown. My lane usually did 3800-4500 depending on if the length of the intervals in main sets. Per hour that's about 3000-3600. For Masters people I was very very average.
I was a runner.
eta: yes metres

I just took the plunge and invested in some equipment, too. 2 new box cut suits, a set of zoomers, and some nice paddles. Feels good to be back at it.

One of the nice things about swimming is the cost. All that stuff put you back, what, $100, $150? That'll buy you about .25 of a golf club.

I swam in the parents-kids relay race at my daughter's swim teams' end of year party on Wednesday. 25 free and 50 free. I am still sore.

That's weird. Do you see Canadian-based restaurants calling themselves The Great American Steakhouse or something like that? I don't think so.

I won't travel to NYC for that pancake.
I will look it up.

Breakfast: Royal Canadian Pancake House. There have to be at least 50 different varieties of pancakes and waffles there...three locations in Manhattan. You will NOT go away hungry.

The Royal Canadian Pancake house has been out of business for at least 5 years

Is there any risk of injury if you like stop swimming or swim too slow? Like the equivalent of falling off the treadmill?
Enquiring minds.

My parents had one in the mid 80s and it doubled as a 12 person hot tub. I swam faster than the jets pushed me back so I was always hitting the wall and tempted to do a flip turn.

Aren't there only like three of them? I went in one, it didn't seem like a chain. I was sort of dinerish. Lots of pictures of c list celebs on the wall. I got them to agree that if I eat the whole pancake they will put a picture of me in a speedo on teh wall.
Next time I am in NY we can go there after we shoe shoppe, u know where.

Oh my god. I just learned that Outback steakhouse is not Australian at all. It's HQ'd in Florida, of all places.

I was flipping back and forth: originally yards, then meters in the context of discussing the masters stuff.

You owe me $350 for the stupid Insurgency t-shirts and trucker caps you had me get printed up. What am I supposed to do with them now?

Made by Speedo, but not a "speedo."
Like this: http://www.lane4swim.com/malpolmessqu.html
And yeah, about $150 for all the gear.

I am about to pm MR about what is the status of ignorig mods (as opposed to admins) and to get a Lester exemption on the ignoring particular admins thing. If he says no, we aren't dead yet.

True. I began swimming a lot again when I recently broke my leg (because I couldn't do anything else), and had to invest in a new swim cap. I think it set me back $7.
