Best movies of 2003
I'd keep Lost in Translation, LOTR, Vargas, Bad Santa.
I'd add Dirty Pretty Things, American Splendor, City of God, Man on the Train, Pirates of the Carribean, and the Good Thief.
I hate Burton. His Batman fucked up comic book cross-over movies for years. He's like Kevin Costner: a megalomaniac who needs someone to ride his ass and keep him under control.

There is no irony. Your shark jumping was well documented. Or, as TM would say, whiff.

On the bright side, maybe ncs can be the PLF of 2004.

I would, but I don't have IM.

I think you can only tell if someone is deliberately whiffing if you are skilled at reading not the text, not the subtext, not the intertext, but the supertext.
But I'm tired, so I could possibly maybe be wrong. Probably not.

Speaking of the Text.
As we can't get Chris Eigeman to discuss the text or the subtext of any real books around here, it falls to me to pitch Absolutely American: Four Years at West Point. Here's the last paragraph of the first part:
"Whitey's Buffalo base of operations is an Irish pub called Checkers: Irish flag, Killians, dartboard, framed newspaper headlines embarrassing to the British. His first night in town, Whitey heads over; first time in a while, he's not thinking about girls, he's thinking about time with friends, one long breather before flight school. And there's Loryn Winter. The impressions pile up fast: ankles, throat, dark hair, perfume, eyes, fingers poking at Diet Coke slush with a straw. Loryn is twenty-four, a local girl without the local-girl accent. Just as Whitey's love for the military carried him out of Buffalo, Loryn is the sort of girl whose good looks amount to travel plans. Her face is too polished, her clothes too snappy to be stranded so far north of the nation's party. The timing couldn't be worse: Whitey will report to Fort Rucker, Alabama in seven weeks. He calls Mark when he gets home, hands jittery on the phone. "I think I just fell in love," he says."
The only reason I'm not putting up a link is because you should click the Amazon link on the side and throw some coin Leagl's way. Highly recommended.

Putting the ball through the hole

You know, they guy can't throw the ball around any more cause he's in pain. I seem to recall an ad of this type featuring Nolan Ryan pitching Advil or Tylenol a couple of years back.
Then I come across an ad on my Yahoo page at work and for some reason click on it out of curiosity. Much to my surprise a site pops up with giant letters proclaiming the NEW SOLUTION FOR ERECTILE DISFUNCTION. Like I need that on my compter screen when the associate from the next office walks in.
Evil.

It's a direct competitor to Viagra, and if the official erectile dysfunction sponsor of the NFL (seriously).

One of these drugs should advertise that its works to make "harder longer" etc..
That is, that its not for dysfunction only, then guys with dysfunction could buy it without feeling silly. i suppose this might make getting a RX more difficult, but I can't help but think the NASCAR guy who ads for Viagra isn't hurting his career with the current sales pitch.

His NASCAR career or his career with the ladies? I can't imagine it would be comfortable driving around in circles with a hard on. Although maybe the vibrations from the car heighten the experience. Probably saves a bundle since he doesn have to use quarters in the bed.

His career in cars? No. His career with the chicks? Maybe. Does anyone want to hear a play-by-play of some guy's ED before they even go out to dinner together?

What happens at ACL...
Judging by the crowd at last night's Robert Randolph show, the secret is out.
And there were at least 50 guys matching PLF's description there.
