Come to find out [duh on me] the 30 GB has video capabilities and I can buy that one. I feel less guilty and win-win-ish.
349 or whatever for an 80G is too much I feel.
I'd spring for 249--my mini lasted 2 1/2 years.

The top contenders for the final burn are:
Don't Fence Me In - David Byrne covering Cole Porter
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - William Shatner covering the Beatles
For A Dancer - Jackson 5 covering Jackson Browne
Somewhere Over the Rainbow - Israel Kamakawiwo'ole covering Judy Garland
Personal Jesus - Johnny Cash covering Depeche Mode
One - Aimee Mann
Burning Down the House - Tom Jones covering Talking Heads
Naive Melody - Shawn Colvin covering Talking Heads
Blackbird - Brave Combo & Tiny Tim covering the Beatles
Que Sera Sera - Pink Martini covering Doris Day
Top of the World - Shonen Knife covering the Carpenters
A coworker recommended the following -
Ring of Fire - Social Distortion covering Johnny Cash
Across the Universe - Fiona Apple covering the Beatles
and the Me First and the Gimme Gimme's body of work.
Any others?

Untrue. I hear the Social Distortion cover of Ring of Fire in spin class.

Why did they do this (and/or why do the radio stations play it?)? They sound similar enough to the original rendition that the first couple of times I heard it I was wondering why the VF version was being played on [generic alt-rock station].

Anything from Deadicated (various people cover the Grateful Dead).

I agreed with you the first time I heard it, but it has grown on me as a similar but sufficiently distinct cover. Maybe it is just because I want to like Gnarls Barkely but find the rest of the album to be kind of cheesy. As for why radio stations play it, I do not know because I am too cool for commercial radio stations. Too. Cool.

2. Jane's Addiction do a great cover of "Ripple".
While I'm at it, Jane's does a great cover of the Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil" as well.

And the Velvets' "Rock and Roll."
I like Los Lobos covering Marvin Gaye ("What's Going On") and the Dead (Bertha; one of my favorites live at the right Los Lobos show).

Several years ago, Sonic Youth did a side project called Ciccone Youth. Featured on The Whitey Album was a cover of "Into the Groove" (though I think it was called "Into the Groovey") that I really liked. The cover of "Addicted to Love" is also kinda catchy but more of a novelty cover.
The Revolting Cocks cover of "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" is also good for a laugh, but it doesn't really stand up to repeated listening.
