Clearly I have been going to the wrong bars. Apparently, I could have had a hipster Amazon with very little effort.
Either that or I need to break down and buy a trucker hat.
Oh, and Carl Newman has always had a slight lisp, even when he was with The New Pornographers. I think this just means that Terrell Owens wouldn't listen to him and might call him a rat.
Late to the party on that one, but I don't know why T.O. didn't say "Talks like a duck" because that's the most damning "evidence" against Jeff Garcia: Jeff sounds more like a former Spartan cheerleader than a former Spartan QB.

what you should do is spend more time thinking about what old people are going to die.

Wilford Brimley: turns 80 this year, is diabetic
Gerald Ford: turned 91 this year, clumsy, was played by Chevy Chase
Hal Holbrook: turned 79 this year, married to Dixie Carter
Lena Horne: turned 87 this year
Ann Jillian: turned 54 this year, had breast cancer
Jerry Lewis: turned 84 this year, has diabetes and pulmonary fibrosis, stint in rehab last year for use of steroids to treat pulmonary fibrosis, had open-heart surgery and prostate cancer
Sydney Pollack: turned 70 this year
Omar Sharif: turned 72 this year
Maureen Stapleton: turned 79 this year
Gavin Newsom: turns 37 this year, issued marriage licenses to homosexual couples, compared to John F. Kenendy
First, I can't change my picks.
Second, I think my picks, on the whole, are good. I could have a big fall and winter.
Third, sometimes you have pocket kings and lose to pocket aces, or get cracked by 2-6 offsuit. It happens (or doesn't happen in the case of the FB DP).
I thought I had picked more people in their 90s, but alas, only one.

Al Lewis is 91 or 92, hasn't had a non-embarassing job in 35 years and had both his legs hacked off last year. why hang on?

Those allergies must be more common than I thought. My church has started offering a gluten-free communion alternative. But we just believe it is commemorative so there is no worry about whether it is the real thing or not.

Random Thoughts on the Olympics
Man, I love the Olympics. I have always loved the Olympics. This year, I love the Olympics more than ever, for two principal reasons:
1. Women's Beach Volleyball.
2. TiVo (much as I love the Olympics, I'll always skip Synchronized Swimming or some soft-focus elevator-music report about the daily life of a Ukranian gymnast).
I learned my true calling yesterday, while watching swimming and listening to the commentary on Michael Phelps. He has one relative weakness in the water, but the commentator said that he could cure it with a little focus, and become "the top breast-stroker in the world."
That's what I wanna be when I grow up.
Perhaps a poll: If you could add any sport to the Olympics, what would it be? Since they've already added Women's Beach Volleyball (hosannah, hosannah, hosannah), I think I'd have to pick roller derby.

Lacrosse. No question. All the emotion of ice hockey. All the intentional physical contact too. And the men who play it... like soccer players, only with big sticks. Mmmm, lacrosse....

Rugby. mmmm Johnny Wilkinson. I think it's silly that they added tennis and are using professional players.

He also used to work for World Championship Wrestling, writing storylines and directing matches.
While that occupation, with its sweaty, grappling men suggests that Bob Mould would like gladiator movies, all we know is that he's had a partner for the past 12 years.
And we also know this: "[Pro Wresting is] much like modern dance, it's much like modern theater. Granted, it attracts a more lowbrow audience and some components of the product are geared for that, but essentially when you take away the T-and-A and all of the crap that I don't care for, you're left with the guys doing their dance out there."
Seems to weird to be true? Click this link.
