"Hack" Wilson keeps talking
Quote:

(2) There is no good reason for a presidential aide to be burning the cover of a CIA agent, especially in wartime. If a Democrat had done this, you guys would be apoplectic. Any principles apparently go out the window if Karl Rove is involved. Every Republican politician in D.C. owes their job to Karl Rove, so you can understand why they're lining up to show that they're on his side -- he has their nuts in a sack. But what about you? What's your excuse? The nit-picking attempts to get Rove off the hook for criminal liability? Shameless.

The only shameless person in this scenario is Wilson. Period.

He does have company in the headlines though, as those 4 Senators calling on Justice CattleGirl to unresign are shameless. Also, Schumer is shameless. And, of course, Kennedy and Byrd are shameless.

Mickey Kaus hits a great point that hasn't really been discussed anywhere else:
Quote:
Isn't this an obvious point that hasn't been made about Joseph Wilson and the Rove/Plame controversy: If you accept an assignment to investigate possible WMD-related activity in Niger on behalf of the CIA, and your wife works at the CIA, shouldn't you think before you make your CIA mission the subject of a high-profile New York Times op-ed piece that there might be the eensiest weensiest chance that in the course of the ensuing controversy your wife's CIA connection might come out in public? How could Wilson not have expected his wife's job to become the buzz of Washington in fairly short order? ... However serious her outing was--and there are those eight redacted pages to worry about--doesn't Wilson bear some substantial responsibility for it as well as whoever in the administration eventually "outed" her to reporters? ... You can't have it all, we are often told. When you marry a covert CIA agent, maybe there are some things you have to give up. Like going on Meet the Press to talk about the CIA!

I swear to God, if it came out that Karl Rove was sacrificing babies to Beelzebub in the White House basement, you guys would be lining up to explain that the babies were asking for it and the statute of limitations has expired. At least Penske is half joking.

"Hairpiece?" "No, Herpes."
This guy knows how to rock n roll:
From the Neil Bush Deposition Archive:
Bush: "I had sexual intercourse with perhaps three or four, I don't remember the exact number, women, at different times. In Thailand once, I have a pretty clear recollection that there was one time in Thailand and in Hong Kong."
Brown: "And you were married to Mrs. Bush?"
Bush: "Yes."
Brown: "Is that where you caught the venereal diseases?"
Bush: "No."
Brown: "Where did you catch those?"
Bush: "Diseases plural? I didn't catch..."
Brown: "Well, I'm sorry. How ... how many venereal diseases do you suffer from?"
Bush: "I've had one venereal disease."
Brown: "Which was?"
Bush: "Herpes."
Brown then interrogates Bush's about his various sex partners:
"Did you pay them for that sex?"
Bush: "No, I did not."
Brown: "Pick them up in a sushi house?"
Bush: "No. ... My recollection is, where I can recall, they came to my room."
Brown: "Do you know the name of that hotel? I may go to Thailand sometime."

No shit. Of course the outing itself isn't a huge deal. The devil is in the coverup. That Fitzgerald is still investigating something where its all but certain Rove didn't violate the letter of the law indicates he's exploring a charge related to a coverup or perjury.
And you're nuts if you believe that "Rove is a whistle blower" talking point. Its a "talking point," which means its either a misrepresantation or spin, or it omits a significant fact. You're supposed to foist those points on the press in lieu of actually addressing tough questions on the issues. You're not supposed to believe a fucking talking point. Its assumed that they are lies, diversions, etc... Thats why they're called "talking points" instead of "facts."
ETA: Oh, wait a minute. You don't believe Rove is innocent, do you? God, I can be so gullible. My bad.

You can't register offensive names as a trademark. But "Redskins" is not offensive.

Rove was a consumer of the information, not a producer.

I think the word you're looking for is "broker" or "middleman."

Wilson had to know that if he said something at odds with the White House line, his wife's career would be ruined. It's all his fault.
