Empty Promise to the Board

That's a no risk promise. I'm don't think she would win Minnesota these days (we're now considered a purple state) as a presidential candidate. And she could possibly torpedo another Dem candidate's chances if she were on as a VP candidate.
I sincerely hope the voters and kingmakers in the states with early primaries and caucuses don't cripple the Dems chances by choosing her. Someone with a clue in the party must know the amount and depth of Hilary hatred that exists across the country.

Durbin, same thing. He does a stupid, over-the-top attach on the Bush Admin. Not an indictment of US solders. Is that giving succor to the enemy? Yeah, right -- I can just picture Moktada's boys cheering Durbin on the streets of Baghdad.

An ostensible leader of the Dem party gets quoted in the leading propaganda tool of the Mideast and muslims worldwide - Al Jareeza - as comparing (and later refusing to retract) a comparison of US actions to that of the Nazis and Pol Pot, and you think this doesn't give succor to the enemy?
Who needs good stuff from Vegas - you clearly have the better supplier here in town.

The liberals will appoint Ned Lamont special ambassadour to go over there and reason with them......unless Clinton can get Israel to sign its death warrant, which seems to be the favoured solution of the left.

Oh, don't sell the Democrats short. They're a lot stupider than you think.
People in Philly not only think she's electable, they think she's a sure thing. They can't wait to get their Harrison Bergeron economic fix when she gets in the white house...
They should raze that city and sell it for scrap metal.

No, I don't think this is succor to the enemy. I don't think that this enemy much cares what US politicians say.
But, even if it was -- I'm still waiting for the "US troops are torturers" cites. Or were you hoping to distract from that promise?

Yes, but, what I quoted said that some of Saddam's prisons should be bulldozed because of their past. I had, based on various things I have read, been under the impression that, pre-2003, Abu Ghraib prison was one of the darker corners of Saddam's penal/torture/murder system. Thus (if what I read was correct) the prison had some bad symbolism separate from what the US military and non-military prison guards and interrogators may or may not have done within its walls. I thought that making the point that changing the administration was a cure for a facility that might warrant a bulldozing based on the acts of the prior prison administrators was . . . interesting.
Now, if I've been misinformed about Abu Ghraib prison's history and use under Saddam, then none of what I've written makes any sense. If that's the case, I blame the liberal media. And the conservative media. And the blogger community.

That must have been a different post. Either way, I blame Hillary Clinton and her lover, Penske.

Agree, slightly. I do think, however, it is important to keep a bit of perspective when we talk about behavior and policy, and in particular the reaction to both. Someone who steals a pack of Wrigley's gets punished differently than someone who steals a car. Call me crazy, but I think it works.
|
I agree with this. However, your earlier post compared our military personnel to Saddam Hussein and his sons. I don't believe that we can ever justify our actions by comparison to a regime that holds itself to be above any concept of natural or man-made law.

I find it, as a sort of an aside, completely ridiculous that people are so sensitive that we had to shut down the place. Fixing the fuck-up in Abu Ghraib's case could have been accomplished by a clean-up and punishment of all responsible or involved, not necessarily a shuttering. I can understand wanting to raze Dachau. I can understand bulldozing countless prisons in Saddam's Iraq. I would imagine Ho Chi Minh City has a couple of spots no one should have to pass by. But what Lynndie England and her moronic band of trash did doesn't come close to the kind of power and terror exercised in those other examples (which is not to say they might not have done much worse, had they the unfettered power and brainstems to do so). Soccer in Iraq, anyone? http://espn.go.com/oly/s/2002/1220/1480103.html

Guantanamo doesn't even come close.

And, in any case, I blame Elian and his guardian ad litem, Penske.
