Of course, unless you're lying when you say it, you'll only get to say it to the ignoree once.

Rosanna

Since she dated the lead singer of Toto, I'm thinking it's true.

Rickey: I really like him. It's unfortunate that Randy and Simon didn't. I wouldn't be surprised if he were in the bottom three. I just hope he outlasts Kim C.

Carmen: Really cute. Seemed to have fun. This is the first time I didn't actively dislike her. Simon finally admits she's "commercial".

Kim C: STOP YELLING AT ME!!!! Paula is right. She put it in a much nicer way than I would have though.

The Elf: I actually wasn't overly impressed with Clay... other than his voice was as good as usual. He's consistent, but it wasn't disco. I thought Simon was a little too harsh.

Trenyce: With this and movie theme week. I feel like she isn't doing so much of her own interpretation as she is trying to copy Whitney.

Ruben: Very good... ecxellent song choice. Hate to admit it, but he's definitely more versatile than Clay.

Kim L.: Wow. That was TERRIBLE. She had better be in the bottom 3 with that performance.

Josh: Also really bad. He probably has too big a fan base to hit the bottom 3, but that performance warrants it. I also think that he probably wasn't really sick. He just said "yeah" when paula mentioned it. Disco "Joshified" sucks ass.

Overall, I thought it was a pretty weak show. Randy was right when he said it had too much of a karaoke vibe.

Looking...

While all of this talk about ogling women is interesting, it obscures the main issue of the day... which is the release of Elephant by The White Stripes. Turn off the computer, stop watching American Idol, and get your copy today.

It seems that the discussions here on the topic of ogling/leering/watching women center on four different individuals: the Gentleman, the Lady, the Cad, and the Floozy. Those who don't leer and don't seek to be the object of leering comprise the first category. Those who leer and catcall and those who hope to be the object of leering and catcalling fall into the later category.

Of course, there might be a fifth category- composed of women who cringe at the thought of the schlubby looking upon their precious form, but who hope/expect/demand that hot firefighters/businessmen/rockstars notice and approach them. They are, of course, the Dreamers.

Rickey: I love him. It's impossible to sing the Philip Bailey and Maurice White parts, but he did a really great job.

Carmen: Her song didn't exploit her vocal weaknesses. She's very marketable. But that doesn't mean I have to like her.

Kim C: I thought she did a good job for her. She should front a band, not be a solo pop singer.

Clay: Meh. Not a good song for him. He needs training so he stops over-enunciating.

Trenyce: She gives me goosebumps. Her voice is wonderful.

Ruben: Defintely the class of the competition. He did so well. Also, goosebumps.

Kim L.: "Wow. That was TERRIBLE. She had better be in the bottom 3 with that performance." I couldn't agree more. She's scary bad. There is a big difference between what they hear live and what we hear. It must be enormous to counter her crappy performance. She has a nice voice, she just cannot sing. (A little rhythm would help.)

Josh: Yuck. He should go home.

Overall, the stage performances are definitely improving.

I see Rickey, Kim L., and Kim C. in the bottom three. Josh should go home, though he won't.

When I was a freshman in college doing an all night cram the week before finals in a building that was open 24/7 and sometimes gets homeless people, teenagers, and random whoevers, this skinny black homo walked up to me and started telling me that this orgy in a few weeks and that I should go. I had a deer in the headlights look for a few seconds and just told him maybe somebody else would be interested but I needed to cram for finals. If he was telling it straight, ain't no way no how I was going to some homosexual orgy. Not then, not never.

AI Thoughts

For the love of all that's good and holy, can we please cut to where there is just Trenyce, Clay and Ruben? I cannot stand Rickey, and he sounded horrible, IMHO. Carmen needs to just go back home and win her high school talent contests - she has done NOTHING to impress me either vocally or personality-wise. It would be doing Kimberley C. and the world a big favor if some producer from Branson would call her to ask her to return to her own show there. Kimberly L. was meh, and seems to be faltering in confidence. Josh... I don't think I even need to say anything. At the end when they were showing them in the red room, Josh seemed to be mentally packing his bags.

Ryan's writers and stylist ought to be fired.

Trenyce and Ruben definitely have staying power. Clay might have a couple minor hits, but I think he's more likely to go back to his normal life and just be a nice guy.

gay gym v straight gym

That reminds me. I think it may be more common for straight gyms to have cardio machines by street windows, and more common for gay gyms to have free weights. In both cases, it's advertisement for male recruits.

Awhile back it used to be an untucked hankie in the back left or right pocket. Some thought that the earring in the right ear (in the early 80s) was a signal, but I think this one's made up. But I digress.

We have an extra special secret handshake

Joking aside

The hankie thing was used a lot amongst the bondage crowd in the 70s and 80s, you wore a certain colour in a certain location to express your interest.

I've read different charts on it, here's one http://www.leatherweb.com/hankie.htm (you might not want to open this at work, it doesn't have pictures though.)

Here's an interesting article on the subject (nothing bad you can open at work) http://www.planetout.com/pno/romance...tml?sernum=214

You know what I think? I think some gay people are simply shyer about risking the chance of hitting on a straight person by mistake than others. Given the number of "straight" men (and women too but not so much) who end up in gay bars or parks or cruising the Internet for sex, or what have you, perhaps they figure why not, I might get lucky, even if the guy is "straight." Some people are just more aggressive than others.

And yes, if I happen to wear a labrys, it will be a hint to people who know what it is. And if I see someone getting out of a car with one of the rainbows on the back, I'll assume he or she is gay. Lesbians used to wear rings a certain way but that doesn't mean gay any more, so it doesn't help. There aren't any universal signals. But a quick locking of the eyes when the other person looks away and looks back, or keeps looking or keeps looking away, isn't a bad hint either.

I love Rickey. I wish he would get with a song that shows off his beautiful voice in all its ranges, and not just in the top like tonight. Did not like his outfit--shirt was just a tad tight and made him look fat. When he was wearing those wide-legged pants, he looked smooooooooth.

Carmen took a page from Julia DeMato's book: cover a song most closely associated with a bad singer (most of us know the Gloria Estefan version better than whosever she was covering), and you can't help but sound okay. Up-tempo works better for her because it avoids the sustained notes where her warbly and flat-making vibrato intrudes. Loved the pants.

Kim C: Paula hit the nail on the head, and in a much nicer way than I would ever have been able to muster.

Clay had a strong finish, but at the beginning his licks were repetitive and showed absolutely zero originality. He is starting to bore me. If he can get rid of the weird enunciation, he has a bright future ahead of him singing (songs only) milquetoast Prince Charming in Disney animated features.

Trenyce had occasional pitch problems and has zero oomph in her lower range, but this was a much better and more relaxed performance from her. She does owe a lot to Whitney, but she threw in a few licks of her own too.

Ruben. Like the judges, I have nothing negative to say about him. My sil suggested tonight that with the week they gained from booting Corey they can have a Ruben concert in which he sings the full-length versions of all his songs. They're just never long enough!

Kim L.: I must have been hearing something different tonight, but I thought she sounded great. Okay, the beginning part was keyed too low for her, but the rest sounded good, and props to her for taking on the Weather Girls. Somebody did a great job on her hair, and her outfit was the right size instead of too small (like her semifinal outfits) or too big (like that lavender dress).

Josh: Yikes!!!! He looks like he doesn't want to be there any more. Tonight's performance was not even to the level of phoning it in. If there is any sense in the voting of the American public, he will be gone tomorrow. If not him, then Kim C. (bottom 2 last week, and nothing improved this week) or Rickey.

MIssed RIckey but for the end of show recap. I note that the song he did was perfect for his bizarro castrato, yanni lite fm voice. HE is also very goodlooking. He is safe.

Carmen. Godawful. Just dreadful. Like a bad drunk ata karaoke bar. At least Simon admitted why he liked her. Bottom three

Kim C- Melissa Ethridge does disco. Like her voice, but not her. As mediocre as this was, it was not nearly as horrid as Josh, Clay and Carmen. But the prancing balladeer seems to have a strong following for some inexplicable reason that she might take his deserved place in the bottom three.

Clay-. Worst performance yet. As predicted he found a ballady disco song (and was probably all flusterd that Kim L took his preferred tune) and did a lousy job with it. Bad karaoke in a gay bar. THen he did his signature hold a note for way too long to impress us with his ballady skills even though it is a one trick wonder he ends every fucking song with. This guy really should get bottom three and possibly voited out if AMerica feels patriotic and pities Josh. If I have to look at him batting his eyelashes like a southern belle one more time, I may throw up. If he is smart, and I doubt he is, he listens to Simon and does something different. he cant keep coasting onSimon's misplaced remark from a couple of weeks ago that he is the one to beat. Ruben is and everyone knows it. Glad Simon finally said so. Clay is blown a way like a pleather chap in the wind next to ruben. adios.

Trenyce. Not her best performance unfortunately but Trenyce on a bad day kicks the ass of Carmen, Kim C, Josh and CLay on a great day. It will be interesting to see if America forgives her for being a fucking crook. I think it could work in her favor as bad girl does good or some shit. But I am not sure. I guess if Paula and Randy can acknowledge and forgive it, so can the voting morons of our country. She is safe.

Ruben. Not his best performance either. I jsut knew he would do Barry White and he covered him great but didnt really make it his own as Paula likes to say. Or he didnt own it dawg or whatever. (can america vote out Randy please? dawgs?). But I can hit mute and just watch him he is so lovable. He looks fatter this week. I hope he takes better care of himself and doesnt drop dead of a heart attack at 42 like the Real SPorts linebacker guy.

Kim L. THought she started off dreadfully but then she got great. And I love her face- kind of asian eyes make her exotic looking. And I will overlook the jiggly old lady arm flab that wasd doing the hustle when she raised her arms. Maybe she and Ruben can spend a month at canyon ranch when this is over. safe.

Josh. Sucked. Good lookign guy by the way and Randy and Paula did a favor to him by noting he was sick so that america might give him a free pass this week. unfortunately, ameica doesnt vote for the loser, it votes for the winner and he may not get votes as anyone's winner though nobody intends him to go. He is not safe unless the hardcore patriots are voting.

bottom three should be josh, clay and carmen but will probably be josh carmen and kim c. I cant wait til it gets to the top four so Old Butterfly eyes gets the heave ho. SHould be some fun waterworks. But twelve year old girls from Oklahoma who do not know the meaning of homosexual are probably voting in droves and will pick him over the real talent.
