Thank you. More recent than I thought.

Look, clearly, logic is not your thing - everyone who communicates with you comes away feeling like they've wasted their time, I'm sure. That's obviously the case here - I've wasted my time trying to convince you of something obvious and clear.
Obviously your ignorance of competitive running and your lack of substantive response to my questions is indicative that you have never been to the top of your so-called sport. Do they have a world championship for joggers? If not you should contact Oprah, she would probably be up for sponsoring one.

Have you ever even made it Boston? I am doubtful, although there may have been a non-merit based lottery for the 100th....

No, I think the realisation was that Bush has no clothes without the approval of the babyjesi.

I disagree. Ginsburg was as far left as you can get in mainstream American politics. JRB is no more right than at least 22% of the current Court and possibly 33% incl. Roberts. Her educational experience and professional background as a jurist are impeccable. There is no reason she should not be approved, other than blatant partisan politics. Fortunately I don't think the dimwits have the votes. The wrath of the babyjesi is mighty.
You really think that 2 0r 3 current justices believe that the Social Security Act, OSHA (and by analogy numerous other government agencies) are unconstitutional?

I'm talking about her judicial philosophy generally. Also I don't think JRB's ideological musings are that .different than the founders, and certainly at least 25% of the current Justices (I am not counting the cowgirl) are disciples of the founders' thoughts.

I revised the post slightly, but I am distinguishing her general libertarian/anti-judicial activist bent rather than specific rulings. Certainly SS and OSHA should be done away with it, although I am not sure both of them are unconstitutional.

What was done to the Japanese sucked and was wrong. No question. But that is a side issue.

The point is that during WWII, any German that might have Nazi sympathies was thrown into a concentration camp by the US government. In addition, Nazi sympathisers were interviewed and asked their political views during the 1930s when we were not at war. Not a complaint from the liberals.

During the Korean War, when American fighter planes were being shot down by Soviets, and we were fighting the Chinese communists on the ground and there was a massive espionage campaign by the Soviets in the United States, some hollywood employees had to face a committee and lost their jobs because of their affiliation with the communist party. A party that was siding with the North Koreans against the United State and was being run by Moscow. And this was the crime of the century? This was a witch hunt?

Nothing happened to these people. If they had worked for me I would have fired them and told everyone I knew not to hire them.
Yeah, that whole "freedom of speech," "right of association" business can be a damn nuisance, can't it?

Just out of curiosity, were your one of those people who nodded knowingly when Atty. Gen'l. Ed Meese dismissed the notion of due process with the pithy observation that "they" wouldn't be defendants if they weren't guilty, anyway?

I was, but I since changed my position on that one. As I matured I was witness to the rank corruption, incompetence, racism and general hate that is endemnic in most of our nation's police departments. Especially the ones in urban locales controlled by the DemOs. Of course, union (read: socialist) control of the police doesn't help.

These guys understand you have a problem with how they do their job, and they'd like to discuss it with you in fuller detail out back in about five minutes.

I really was unaware of much harping from the "Left", whomever is encompassed by that term.
From Yahoo lead article:

"Under withering attack from conservatives, President Bush abandoned his push to put loyalist Harriet Miers on the Supreme Court and promised a quick replacement Thursday. Democrats accused him of bowing to the "radical right wing of the Republican Party."

Quote:
There seemed to have been much greater and vocal opposition from the religious wingnuts, who were licking their chops over the possibility of a "final showdown" with the liberals over the SCOTUS nomination in the Senate.
This is utter bullshit. It was the wingnuts that wanted her in b/c she is an evangelical.

It was my guys - the federalist and originalists - that wanted her out.

As you may not have noted from the wikpedia article:
[list]The House Committee on Un-American Activities grew from a special investigating committee established in May 1938, ... As to investigations into the activities of the "Klan," the Committee actually did little. When HUAC's chief counsel Ernest Adamson announced that: "The committee has decided that it lacks sufficient data on which to base a probe," committee member John E. Rankin added: "After all, the KKK is an old American institution." Instead of the Klan, HUAC concentrated on investigating the possibility that the American Communist Party had infiltrated the Works Progress Administration, including the Federal Theatre Project.
And thus Senator Byrd's career was saved
