Interesting Spanish development
The Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades, the group that claimed responsibility for the Madrid bombings, apparently delivered a message to al-Hayat today offering to halt any further operations in Europe while it waits to see if the Spanish government carries out its withdrawal from Iraq.

Anyone questioning the appeasement theory now?

Let me get straight exactly what you're saying here (with a little assist from what I know about this episode):
Bush was going to nominate a guy who is roundly and bipartisanly respected as being an excellent candidate for this position. The Dems who knew him thought he was great. They knew that his workforce got cut because of a drop in sales of a certain item, and, in an unrelated situation, he had opened a China factory that manufactured only for the Chinese market, and which actually boosted jobs here because it was buying some components from his US plant.
Bush failed to tell someone ahead of time about the nomination.
Kerry found out, and, in order to be able to take a jab at Bush, he lied and misrepresented the guy's story, effectively killing him off. The cost of this small advantage to Kerry was the loss of someone who would have been very good at this slot, in the eyes of his Dem friends, and everyone else who knew him.
And you present this as a measure of Bush's error?
Screwed up priorities.

By the way, the same letter says that the terrorists want Bush to win. I anxiously await your "a vote for Bush is a vote for appeasement" post.

Because he was taken away from his family for what he views as a stupid deployment. Also note that while on active duty saying anything negative about the Commander-in-Chief is, shall we say, frowed upon, so don't expect too much criticism from those in uniform.
Note that he was activated for Afghanistan, though they subbed in someone else at the last minute, and he felt differently there.

Sort of like Ashcroft's misrepresentation of Gregory White's judicial record, designed to misrepresent Carnahan's record on the death penalty, except without the racist subtext. Not that you're wrong about the point, just that both sides do it all the time.

Ltl and I had a torrid affair some time ago. Mainly sexual, but I think there were some frayed emotions when it ended. She still has the videotape.

Certainly, but you didn't see me bragging it up here. I expect it of Kerry, but not . . . lawyers.

Bush has a war? Not sure I'd bring that one up if I were you. I could be wrong, but I think it was Kerry who earned the Silver Star.
Texas is manlier that Massawhatchamacallit, though.
