As good as I am at making people feel sick, I doubt I said anything that she hasn't already thought herself.
Just out of curiousity, question for the board: when you are having sex with a new partner (i.e., not an established monogamous relationship), are there any circumstances under which you don't use a condom? I'm shocked by how many of my smart, educated female friends (who are old enough to know better) still have unprotected sex with new people and think it's ok bc they are on the pill (and some of them aren't even on the pill).
ETA: does anybody on this board actually have sex with new people anymore (besides Abba) or is everybody all married and committed and shit? We are boring.

No offense, but any deals you made probably ended when the relationship ended.

But yes, glad I am not married to him anymore.

That makes sense. He wasn't good enough for you anyway (now or in the future), if that makes this development at all better...

I have three friends who have in the last year. Only two of them were smart educated females, both of whom were old enough to know better, assuming there is an absolute better, which for this question we will assume is your definition.

I made rb (*sniff* I miss her) throw up.
No, there are no circumstances. I did try this once with someone with whom I was in a casual, non-monogamous (on my end -- I don't think he was seeing anyone else), but fairly established relationship and it really skeeved me out and kept me from being able to fully enjoy the sex. He did not like that result and we went back to condoms. Congratulations, public-service-marketing people, you have succeeded with at least one person.
ETA I do.

Nope. Goes for new old partners too.
ETA: to 2 Fringie's kudos to public service marketing people regarding the conviction that I'll die of some terrible and disgusting wasting disease if I have non-monogamous sex without a condom.
ETA2: and I am on the pill, just in case the non-monogamous part turns into the other kind. Plus, my skin looks better.

Isn't that deal void or voidable or something regardless of the marriage status? I don't do family law so this is out of my element.

This makes total sense. And does make it kind of like an ex getting married.
Once when I got the wedding invitation or save-the-date or whatever for a couple I was friends with, who had been a couple nearly the entire time I'd known them, I was really sad. Who knew I had a minor crush? Not me. And then a few years later when I got the baby announcement, I was sad all over again, because it meant that the option was totally and completely off the table. Which is not to say I feel your pain, because it wasn't even an ex.

Shit. I was really hoping to be grandfathered in on that one. Wait, that was an unfortunate choice of words.

At least you're consistent. It's kind of like, "Whenever a player engages in the following, the referee must assess a penalty of 15 yards, unless he changes his mind."

When a friend of mine that I used to hook up with in law school got married and I went to his wedding, I got really sad because that option was now off the table. Of course, I was married at that time, for god's sake, and had not hooked up with him for 5 years or so, so I had no business getting sad, but whatever. The brain is a weird thing.
This is not to say I feel ABBA's pain either (although I would like to make her happy), but just to recount a stupid story.
Hmm. Post 5556. I guess I am not retiring yet.

No.
Of course, the board will not be surprised that this doesn't come up very often.

Yez. Worst thread ever. I was so bored I went over the PB and re-read old ERISA threads.
