Cable network Comedy Central is planning to turn the make-over hit "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" upside down with a new show called "Straight Plan for the Gay Man."
Debuting in February, the new show will parody the Bravo channel's "Queer Eye" series and male stereotypes in general as a team of straight comedians -- the "Flab 4" -- teaches a succession of gay men how to pass as heterosexuals.
The make-overs include lessons in such areas as spartan home decorating, oafish manners, less-than-fashionable wardrobes, and an overdeveloped ego to mask all personal failings, production executive Lou Wallach told Reuters on Monday.

Well the race is on then, because Bravo itself is planning on doing a reverse Queer Eye shortly, with five straight guys teaching some flamer how to butch it up. There will be a specialist for "sporting event etiquette," which I think is brilliant. It seems they're not playing it as a spoof, but I still don't see how's there's room for two straight guy/queer guy shows.

I take it Celine, Alanis and Anne Murray were intentional omissions...
Good.

edited to note that Ty is right. I had no idea what their music sounded like, just by the name I thought they were one of ours.

Translated into English, that's "Australia's Wiggiest Funked-Up Band."

I think I saw one of your reviews of a .38 Special compilation on Amazon. Are you the same guy who said "the mere fact that their music has become forgotten fills me with rage"?*

Re: The Wiggles
It scares me that four men so obviously gay would sing a childrens' song with the lyrics "Fruit salad, yummy yummy".

Neil and Tim Finn are from NZ, but the rest of the band is Australian, and the Australians certainly consider them theirs. NTTAWWT.

The Finn brothers are, but can't vouch for other members of Crowded House or Split Enz (another fine group, with songs such as "Six Months in a Leaky Boat")... Wildly popular both in NZ and Australia back in the day.

Dissent.
Murray - married with two children
Greg - married with two children
Anthony - married with a child due in Feb 2004
Jeff - single with no children
And before we jump to the obvious point, a man married to an Australian woman obviously can't be gay. Duh.

Michael Jackson's family plans
From MSNBC and its "Please don't let this happen file"
MICHAEL JACKSON IS telling people he wants to adopt more children. The baby-dangling star — whose career was nearly derailed because of child molestation accusations — already has three children, but now he’s saying he’d like to adopt at least seven more.
“I want a big family,” he recently told L.A. radio host Rick Dees. “More and more children.” In fact, he said that he’d eventually like to have more kids than his father did. There were nine siblings in the Jackson family.
“It’s not like he has a specific strategy or he’s in touch with adoption agencies about this,” Jackson’s rep told the Scoop. “If indeed he did say that, he was just speaking about his love of children.”

At least two of them are married with children. And Fruit Salad is a good song. The, ahem, Little Fingers love it...
Mrs. Hand, the Little Fingers and I went as the Wiggles for Halloween this year... My oldest assigned me the role of Jeff, an apparent editorial comment on my state of consciousness on Saturday mornings. Captain Feathersword is my favorite, though.

Heh. It's interesting you chose such an innocuous quote, when there are so many that are worse.
Captain Feathersword in particular bothers me. He goes around tickling people with his feather sword. He likes to dance in his pirate pants. Sometimes, he has to put on his "special raincoat."
Actually, except for CF, I kind of admire The Wiggles. They were a fairly successful band in Australia (The Cockroaches) and then gave it up to launch into the risky business of children's music. It's hard to imagine they planned on the type of success they ultimately gained.
