Best swing in golf: Ernie Els.

Best stroke in basketball: Alan Houston.
Best shot in Hockey: No fucking idea.

Would love to hear your opinions.

Golf Swing: Woods by a nose over Els, and this is from firsthand observation of both of them in the same group at last year's Open.
Baseball: You're gonna laugh because his career has been mostly a bust due to injuries, but the smoothest swing I've ever seen belongs to J.D. Drew, now of the Atlanta Braves. There's a reason his swing keeps getting compared to Mantle.
Basketball: Houston's probably right.
Hockey: If you mean best in terms of most powerful, then it's Al MacInnis.

Best swing in baseball: Ken Griffey Jr. (everyone will argue that Bonds' swing is the best and they may be right, but in my opinion, Griffey has the prettiest swing I've ever seen).

Best stroke in basketball: Alan Houston. There's no question that Larry Bird was the best pure shooter, in my mind. But watching Alan Houston shoot is like watching warm butter being spread. It's just too smooth. Too bad he has no heart.

Best shot in Hockey: No fucking idea.

Would love to hear your opinions.

Golf: Apparently, according to many pros, Tiger's WAS perfect. Don't know if it still is. Ernie's swing is relaxed and fluid, but I don't think it's better than Tiger's.

Baseball: Raffy

Basketball: Peja

Does either the Paigow or the Flower still post to this board? I missed them.
You old rascal! I'm still here. As for paigow, rumor is she got banned along with Spikey and a few other oldskoolers. I heard this from jefhatfield, though, so YMMV!!!

Hmmm, a little time off in Italy, eh? Giro-related? Tough break for Super Mario, huh?

Stuff around here is much the same. Ironweed and his dark army of malignant socks continues to wreak havoc on the smooth exchange of information and playful banter that is the hallmark of this board. There are some bright young old skool newbers who have really revved this place up (hi john123!). Leagl was banned by RT after the coup d'etat. Other than that, same old same old.

The thing about Tiger's swing is that it is too strong. He rotates his hips so fast and swings so hard that he has trouble keeping his hands in sync with his body.

Els, on the other hand, may not be absolutely perfect when he's at his best, the way Tiger is. But, he's almost always in sync. His swing looks effortless and he has the best balance I've ever seen.

I saw them both at the US Open at Beth Page and at the PGA a few years back and Tiger's swing looks like a violent, but smooth attack. Els looks like he's trying to massage the ball onto the fairway and he hits it 300+ with what looks like minimal effort.

Righteous brudda, righteous.

It definitamente sounds like sameoldsameold but different with a distinction, iykwim.

Reminds me that when I first came on the GreedyAssociates boards back on prodigy.net in '91 or maybe it was 90, I was kind of an unofficial admin cum moderator and known thereupon as the piecemaker, which meant I stayed out of the flame wars and bannable activity because hey after all we were comrades in arms in the fight for associate unionization and yes, there was the promise of cyberinduced hookups in slave's kitchen.

Of course, years later, with the advent of Plated's rule of Infirm and the GreedyPolitics chatting forum I started posting some banworthy things under a series of socks touting tanks and the associated virtues of a new psycho-philosophical theory of humanity known as compassionate multicultural humanism, but PT's socks were so much more hardcore that I didn't seem so bad in comparison.

I hope against hopelessness that now that leagl has been overthrown that RT keeps the personal flames and socking rabblerousers in check.

Some of the bestest fun times that I've had in internet style lawyer chatting board forums has been flaming that slow-witted dork into the ground. Buenos tiempos.

I'll agree with that. Tiger is perfect when he's on. Els is almost perfect all of the time.

How come people don't mention Phil? He has a great swing. Is it b/c he's a lefty? On that note, how come only left-handed batsmen are mentioned when people discuss baseball's best swing? Lefties do seem more fluid, but why? I'm right-handed but bat mostly lefty (I can switch hit in softball, but was too slow to hit righty in baseball), and it FEELS more fluid.

I was ready to mention Phil, but I wanted to avoid the man-tits issues it would raise.

For baseball, lefties have smoother swings because they follow through towards first base, the direction they'll run. When you bat righty, you can't afford a long looping swing to the right, because you're hopelessly out of position for beating out a hit. Lefties just continue the motion. And if Will Clark were still playing, I'd throw him into the mix. But once you get retirees, the barn door is open . . .

ETA: Coltrane, why are you here today? Shouldn't you be off deflowering the twins?

In the spirit of your post and in homage to the upcoming 27th anniversary of worldwideweb located internetstyle lawyer chatting boards, I have composed a short randomly haphazard test for all of the oldskoolers and oldskoolwannabenewbers here.

Oh, and please, if you know the answer post it, no need to PM me.

1. What was PaigowPrincess's original log on name?

2. What does "OBE" stand for?

3. What was SlaveNoMore's original log on name?

4. How many GreedyAssociate boards and subforums were there on the Yahoo incarnation of the internet style lawyer chatting boards?

5. Other than Cornhole and Fugee who were the other 17 admins of the original successor to the Original GreedyAssociates Board on Yahoo?

I had no Idea Doctors hated Lawyers

Doctor Proposes Not Treating Some Lawyers

Mon Jun 14, 7:38 AM ET Add Health - AP to My Yahoo!

By TARA BURGHART, Associated Press Writer

CHICAGO - A doctor's proposal asking the American Medical Association to endorse refusing care to attorneys involved in medical malpractice cases drew an angry response from colleagues Sunday at the annual meeting of the nation's largest physicians group.

Many doctors stood up to denounce the resolution in passionate speeches — even after its sponsor, Dr. J. Chris Hawk, asked that it be withdrawn.

Hawk, a South Carolina surgeon, said he made the proposal to draw attention to rising medical malpractice costs. The resolution asks that the AMA tell doctors that — except in emergencies — it is not unethical to refuse care to plaintiffs' attorneys and their spouses.

"It expresses the frustration I have with a broken system," said Hawk. He said doctors are leaving his state or retiring early because of insurance premiums — making it harder for patients to receive care.

Neurologist Michael Williams said although he understood Hawk's frustration, the resolution never should have been introduced because it seeks to discriminate against a group of people.

The resolution left the AMA "a really big mess to clean up," Williams said.

For years, the AMA's top legislative lobbying priority has been the medical malpractice system, and some delegates said the resolution could hurt those efforts by giving trial lawyers ammunition.

AMA committees considered more than 250 reports and resolutions Sunday. The committees will make recommendations to the group's delegates, who will begin voting Monday afternoon on policies to adopt.

Last week, the daughter of a Mississippi legislator said she was denied treatment by a plastic surgeon because her father opposes limits in damage suits against doctors.

Dr. Michael Kanosky said he referred Kimberly Banks to other plastic surgeons to have her burn scars removed because he had lobbied on the other side of the issue and saw an ethical conflict.
