Sigh. Remedial shoes.
Do not wear slip-ons with a suit ever. Slip-on shoes may go with a sportcoat, but never a suit.
If you are wearing a more casual suit, and want casual shoes to go with it, wear derbys (bluchers, whatever - the ones where the lace plackets aren't stitched down at the base of the tongue that usually get called "oxfords" but aren't). Brogues/wingtips in the country, but not in the city, whether they are derbys or oxfords.
If the suit is actually linen, and you wear no tie, I might be OK with mocs of some sort if they are worn with the definite intent to dress improperly and thereby adopt the rakish air of a third-world plantation owner. But if you show up at any sort of formal wedding without a tie someone should probably slap you.

Thanks. Sorry about repeating a post, but I'm not sure how to access the old ones. Apropos of your last sentence, I have a friend who only wears ties to NICER weddings. For example, if a wedding is less "classy" or if the bride has less money than what he is used to, he'll throw on a black Boss suit sans tie. He's an asshole. "Your wedding isn't tie-worthy you silly middle-class wench."

Summer Songs Question
Much as I love my current summer songs CD mix (Poi Dog Pondering, DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince, Blondie, 311, Stevie Wonder, etc.), I need to make a new one.
Suggestions on your favorites?
Thanks.

Equal parts Ry Cooder, Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks, AC/DC, and Yo Yo Ma w/ Emmanuel Ax.
(But I'm guessing not.)

He's my girlfriend's best friend's boyfriend. So I guess he's a forced friend. He's not someone I would normally choose to associate with. Oddly enough, he's a relatively decent guy in most other ways, although he IS from the North Shore (Chicago), where the "classy" people were raised...

I saw the last ten minutes and her comments actually made be LOL (hate that phrase, but it is true here). Poor Jenna and our dear friend JFF should get together to sort out why people hate those that are beautiful. I said at the beginning of the show that I was shocked (shocked, I tell you) that she is a bikini model. I don't see it. Understandibly people look worse after weeks in the Amazon but she didn't look good on day 1. WTF?

I keep noticing the use of the word classy in quotes. Is this the new way to say classy without being so unclassy as to actually say classy?
would you have said classy without quotes had you not been schooled in the horror of that word by your truly? Have I been properly thanked for sparing you the embarrassement of being mocked behind your back for saying classY? remember when I corrected that gal on the old fb that time she said "classy" (was it Not For Profit?) and she flipped? Too bad the old board is adios, or I would search for thata post. Bet she never says classy, at least without quotes, or airquotes, again. You are welcome, lady.

It was tongue-in-cheek relating to the boards discussion re: class, the use of the word, etc. Possibly a little sarcasm b/c I'm not from Chicago and see the whole Chicagoland competition as a little silly.

Men's Shaving Products
Sorry if this is boring, but have any of you guys ever tried the Jack Black shaving/skin care products? Apparently they're all the rage. I'm thinking of trying some, but I wanted opinions first.

I think that he used quotes to indicate that he doubted that being raised in a certain area made a person more or less classy (or substitute "cultured" or some other similar identifier). Other than in the minds of the poeple raised in those areas of course.
Not out of fear of your wrath. I could be wrong though.
n(not so high class)
Editted to say, see, told you I could be wrong!

Huh? Jack Black doesn't have great skin! What is with these actor types today branching out where they don't belong?!
Speaking of Jack Black, I'm reading High Fidelity right now. Doing the old reverse order see the movie then read the book thing...

Just a few off the top of my head:
Nuthin But A G Thang, Dre feat/ Snoop - all time #1 summer bbq song.
Letter from an Occupant, New Pornographers
Seeing Other People, Belle & Sebastian
Chocolate Salty Balls - Chef
My Wife, The Who
Thank You - Dido
Everlong (and This is a Call), Foo Fighters
Walking on Sunshine, Katrina and the Waves
Down Under (or maybe Overkill?), Men at Work
Throw something nice by Coldplay on there
Sexy Sadie, the Beatles
Hot N Herre, Nelly
Santeria (or Wrong Way), Sublime
Fell in Love With A Girl, White Stripes
Soopaman Luva, Redman (if kids are not going to be hearing this mix)
Something from Moby's "Play," take your pick.
New Orleans is Sinking, Tragically Hip
Birdhouse in your Soul, They Might Be Giants
Miss Jackson, Outkast
What would a Winter-Mix have? Lots of Sigur Ros and Godspeed You Black Emperor?
