jfc, dtb, the competitiveness of New York has really messed you up if you're begging to be included on TM's comic team of incompetents. May I suggest a permanent move to the country?

P.S. Maybe if you had conceded that the neck sweater was a fashion statement rather than "for the last time, a climate control device!!", you could have edged Slave out of the fashion spot.

Like James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause. Like the mirrored sunglassed cop in Cool Hand Luke. Like Matt McCaughnehey in Dazed and Confused. Like the dude who played The Dude.

Only a truly great actor can take a throwaway role and make it truly memorable. Fast Times had immeasurable appeal. Would it have had such appeal, if, when Judge Reinhold's character (the ever responsible Brad) asked Spicollli after receiving a handful of change, "Why don't you get a job, Spicolli?" Spicolli answers, innocently, without a hint of sarcasm, "What for?"

He's got his toasty buds. His tasty waves. What more does he need? Spicolli isn't going to get caught on the endless cycle of work-produce-consume. He just is. He produces to meet his needs. Because if they weren't good enough, they wouldn't be called minimums.

And isn't that what we're all here for? Maximum $$$ at minimal effort? Sure, we all got duped (except for Sebby, whose life is like this), but isn't Spicolli's self-actulization something we should all aspire to? If you disagree, please indicate by ordering me a pizza during our next conference call. I promise that it will be OUR pizza.
Spicoli was a beautiful character, and wholly underrated intelligence-wise - not only did he ingeniously solve the problem of wrecking Jefferson's car, he singlehandedly created the motivation for Jefferson (and Ridgemont) to destroy the opposition. All in one fell swoop. Brilliant.

So what Jefferson was saying was "Hey! You know, we left this England place because it was bogus. So if we don't get some cool rules ourselves, pronto, we'll just be bogus too." Yeah?

The trick to pronouncing it is that it rhymes with broccoli, but I tripped over it and asked for a Spicoli. The blank, humorless look on the waitron's face just made my night.

I understand the don't-ever-admit-you-were-wrong theory of lawyering, but you may want to think about backing down on this stance.

leagle sed: I know gay republicans who like bush. I don't understand them.

slave sez: Maybe they think economic issues are more important than gay marriage

you sez: Or maybe they think gay marriage is the most important issue, and want to lay the smackdown.

SD sez: U R stupid

Not to take a firm stand either way on paigow's stupidity, but aren't these two different "theys?"

Shouldn't it read:

slave sez: Maybe gay people voting for bush think economic issues are more important than gay marriage

paigow sez: Or maybe the bush administration thinks gay marriage is the most important issue, and want to lay the smackdown.

Doesn't really matter. I still think gay people who vote for Bush are nuts. I think it is like a black person voting for a segregationist. It doesn't really matter that there are other, more important issues, (and yes I agree there are other much more important issues) the man is still standing up there attacking gay people and the validity of our relationships.

Now, I read it as "They were conservative in most ways, but Bush's stand on this issue became a deal killer."
