They got my donations at the time states were passing the most appalling restrictions on abortion ----parental/father of child notices and consents.

(Not to bring Bilmore back to argue the pro-restriction side or anything).

Even if the fetus isn't viable yet?

Mine is dominated by 50% John Edwards, 25% other democrats and 25% Republicans (Guliani and McCain a little more than Romney). Neighboring, more affluent zip codes really like Romney.

The data is a little misleading though. Obama apparently has a LOT of under $100 donors (including me). They're not going to end up on this chart.

But aren't there plenty of kids born at 6 months gestation who survive? Even 5 1/2, I thought.

Is it "birth" if the "baby" is not viable and is only being "born" through extraordinary medical procedures?

In other words, yes, of course I believe in life at birth. I'm just not sure that what defines birth the end of presence in the uterus.

I don't really know. But to me that would be an argument in favor of banning abortion at that stage of pregnancy (that would be consistent with Roe), not an argument against this particular procedure.

Someone in my zip code has apparently given about $4,000 to Giuliani - isn't the limit $2,300 per person?

I may have to make a citizen's arrest.

I never really bought in to the viability argument, because I think it's impractical. How do you know if the fetus if viable if you kill it before it has a chance to survive, especially as medical technology gets more and more advanced?

By "birth" I mean exiting the vagina while not "dead."
I understand your point, but as I said before, this whole debate has become 1 big line drawing exercise, and it seems to me that my definition of birth is something everyone should be able to agree with.

Keep talking like that and you'll end up on the Supreme Court.

I think that the only thing that people agree upon is that at some point, the fetus is more than a cluster of cells.
