Well, no, I was not claiming they are mutually exclusive. But you seem to be saying that the "always think they are right" which is the same thing as "cannot admit they are wrong" is not loathesome in doctors, but is loathesome in lawyers?

It ain't the money; they just hate depositions and lawyers. Here's the answers given by a few treating doctors (and chiropractors) I know:

(1) phone sex with a dominatrix

(2) making sure that they are the winning bidder on that sweet Calloway Big Bertha listed on e-bay

(3) catching up on the "Acme Tech: short or long?" thread on ragingbull.com

For the sake of board harmony, I am going to assume you actually believe this, and that you are just being stubborn, not disrespectful.

But seriously, folks. My whacko brother is, or was, a doctor. As is most of my family. There are plenty of uptight, weirdo med students, and plenty of doctors who can't have a conversation about anything other than medicine.

Sebby, you need to hang out with a better class of lawyers. The fun, sane, well adjusted ones that the board exemplifies.

I like it when they kick the ball into the goal thing, but it does not seem to happen very often.

See, Sebby? There are plenty of lawyers who've wrecked their brains with drugs.

I guess the tendency to embellish runs in the family.

Its the way docs do it. They come at you from a position of superiority (or was it disdain?) which is amusing. I enjoy the peacock act they put on.

You know what "assume" means, don't you?*

* I had to listen to someone lay that idiotic speech on a first year a few weeks back. I wanted the kid to say "You know what giving the 'assume speech' means, don't you? It means you need to get out of the fucking office more, you decrepit windbag, because if you think that speech is any fresher than the crust on your old lady's grandma panties, you're dead fucking wrong. So why don't you dispense with the insulting and embarrassing speech, gramps, and go get a fucking life, you goddamned service of-counsel asswipe."

Just FYI, I never read the footnotes.

Apparently the habit of telling tired old jokes as if they are something you really experienced is not unique to my family.

But man, the whole bar burst out laughing last night when that piece of string said "no, I'm a frayed knot."
