editting question

When I'm reading while I work and doing the fast-refresh thing, I often see people's posts change when I refresh them, usually when it's the last post. Shouldn't this show up as having been edited? Certain people can surpress that notice, right?

Why do I get the impression that if you found yourself in a room with a freshly-showered dtb* clad only in a tiny robe and thong you would talk a lot?

*If it were somehow possible for this to occur in a parallel universe in which dtb was single and childless and could do this without raising any moral issues or affecting her married life in this universe.

(If someone finds this universe please tell me where it is. It sounds like a fun place, and I'm sure together we could make a hell of a lot of money running a tour company.)

Though I'm beginning to understand why SATC appealed to you so much.

Oh, believe me, Atticus doesn't love me because of my vocabulary*. (And thanks for thinking of my welfare!!!)

Ah, lawyers -- nothing if not hyperbolic! I'm not sure if that second bit was supposed to be an insult -- I guess I'm just stoopid. But if SATC's appealing to me (I guess any level of appeal equals "SO MUCH" because I took a firm stand about not feeling embarrassed about watching and enjoying it) is a proxy for being a bad speller (or whatever else that was supposed to convey), then so be it.

*or for any other reason, sadly [sniff]

ETA what I was SURE I had put in the first time -- it's Old Timers' Disease, I think.

This morning, I was washing my face and the phone was ringing, and I shouted "Is anyone going to answer the phone?!" and as I heard no response, had to go to the phone with my soapy face. Anyway, it was the NYPD. They asked if someone had called. I said no, but then remembered that my baby had been playing with the phone -- and thought maybe he dialed 911 by happenstance. So I explained that, and the lady on the phone said "OK, fine, please explain that to the officers who will be there in a moment."

Doorbell rings, my son comes to my room asking if I've called the police. So I rinse my face and have to put some underwear on (and a robe), and go to the door to explain what happened. The officers were very nice and we all kind of chuckled.

So the reason I relate this to the 1000 monkeys? Several years ago, my older son did the same thing (luckily, this was upstate, so there's hope that we're not down for having this happen twice!). State trooper came and everything, and asked to look around, even though I told him everything was all right (good practice, probably.)

So when I saw the baby playing with the phone this morning, I thought, "Eh -- I'm not going to worry about it. What are the chances that could happen again?" Apparently, the answer to that question is 100%.

Good times, good times.
I wonder how often that happens? One morning my dad was eating breakfast when he heard an ambulance with blaring sirens pull into our driveway. Apparently my 9 month old brother had started playing with the telephone and accidentally dialed 911.

The reason he got an ambulance instead of just an officer is b/c a few weeks earlier my dad had had a major heart attack and he was still at home recuperating. He was the lieutenant of police in our small town so as soon as the dispatcher saw our home number on the 911 call, she assumed he'd had another heart attack and was too indisposed to speak after dialing the phone and immediately ordered an ambulace to our house.

Anyway, apparently this proves there are more monkeys typing away on typewriters than we had suspected.

I don't understand why you're so threatened by women talking about SATC. What kind of vodka do you drink?

It probably doesn't need to be said, because it might play into her self-image more[1], but this is part of the reason that I think dtb must be really hot. Only women who are really, absurdly hot can get away with shit like this that much. For the same reason, I bet that dtb has slapped a few people in her lfe and gone off on people, because that's always the kind of shit that really hot women are getting away with. A regular women or a guy tries that, and they get their ass yelled back at or arrested or kicked out of the bed or the store.

[1] Which is fine, and this isn't intended as critical of dtb, just an observation and a note that we really need to get her to participate in TMBDIII. Or maybe she was red thong [sic] woman.

Doesn't make much sense does it? Most robes cover everything. It's not like the girl is nekkider under the robe. Maybe it's b/c we know that she had been nekkid only a few seconds ago.

It doesn't show editing in the first three minutes after a post. I do this frequently. Why? Because I'm compulsive in odd ways.

DTB: You'll have to excuse SF's poor behavior as he is most likely just crabby because of his skewering by Hank on Politics. Anyhow, look at the foot in his Avatar. What can you say about a man who feels the need to suggest he has a big foot and hence......

Excuse me, but "proactive" and "paradigm"? Aren't these just buzzwords that dumb people use to sound important? Not that I'm accusing you of anything like that.

Is it possible that these babies are pressing the emergency speed dial button?

Sheet, I bust out with several lengthy posts after two weeks or so of absence from quarter-end all-nighters and now I post and talk too much? My secretary always types in everything word for word and doesn't edit on the fly, so my posts here are always too long. She never goes back and edits them like I tell her to, either.

I assure you that, in that situation, what I would be doing a lot of would not be talking. Too much during-sex-talk is pretty weird anyway.

You, sir, are no gentleman.

Apropos of Sebby, I would like to agree with him on the choice of bourbon as a drink. Maker's Mark on the rocks is what I order when I am tired of explaining to a well-meaning but unknowing server what exactly "Bushmills, neat" means.

That being said, context is key in whether a drink is acceptable or not (caveat -- I really don't care what you drink. I won't think less of you for ordering a sloe gin fizz or a fuzzy navel). Take the poor, put-upon mojito, for example. Should one order it at Barney's Bar and Grill, over on Highway 64? No. Barney does not have fresh mint in his establishment. However, there were a few Cuban restaurants I visited down in Mee-ahhh-mee not too long ago that had *excellent* mojitos.

It is the perfect drink for sitting at a sidewalk table and people watching on a semi-tropical, slightly breezy, warm but not oppressively hot day.
